The UAE Olympic Committee reviewed its international participation plans, governance initiatives, and digital transformation strategy during a Board of Directors meeting held at its headquarters in Dubai on Thursday.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the Committee, chaired the meeting. It was attended by Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, Vice President of the UAE Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Executive Office; Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the Committee; and members of the NOC Board of Directors.

During the meeting, members reviewed technical and administrative reports related to the UAE’s recent international participation. In particular, the Board examined the UAE delegation’s performance at the Asian Beach Games held in Sanya, China, from 22 to 30 April. The UAE delivered a strong performance, finishing first among Arab nations and seventh overall in the competition, which brought together 1,790 athletes from 45 Asian National Olympic Committees.

In addition, the Board reviewed the UAE’s participation in the 4th GCC Games held in Doha last May. National teams secured a total of 66 medals, including 13 gold, 19 silver, and 34 bronze medals.

Furthermore, members discussed the UAE’s participation in major multi-sport events scheduled for the remainder of 2026. These include the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October, the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, from 31 October to 13 November, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia from 13 to 26 December.

The Board also reviewed legal procedures concerning membership affairs and institutional recognition. Moreover, discussions focused on the UAE Olympic Committee’s digital transformation and artificial intelligence agenda.

As part of these discussions, members received a presentation outlining the Committee’s vision for institutional transformation through generative artificial intelligence technologies. The proposal includes the adoption of Agentic AI within the UAE NOC’s operational ecosystem, along with implementation mechanisms and strategic objectives.

Meanwhile, attendees reviewed a proposal to establish the UAE House during the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The Board examined the related logistical, financial, and protocol requirements.

Members were also briefed on the decision to postpone elections for the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation until September 2026. Additionally, they reviewed recent developments and outcomes related to the work of the Central Elections and Appeals Committee.

The meeting further addressed the mechanism through which sports federations can submit requests for preparatory training camps ahead of participation in international multi-sport events. Approved criteria and governing conditions were also discussed.

Finally, the Board reviewed corporate governance oversight measures and financial support provided through Olympic Solidarity grants from the International Olympic Committee. Discussions included compliance requirements and performance assessments. The UAE Olympic Committee also noted the International Olympic Committee’s approval of all recent amendments to the UAE National Olympic Committee’s Statutes, which were ratified during the General Assembly meeting held on 16 February.
