Apple’s new MacBook Pro features a tandem OLED display, Touch support on Mac for the first time, and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The 14-inch and 16-inch models also add Dynamic Island and offer up to 24 hours of battery life, according to Apple.

Display and Touch features

The PROLED XDR display uses tandem OLED technology and supports peak HDR and SDR brightness of up to 2,000 nits, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and adaptive refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz. It supports the P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces, with more than 80 percent Rec. 2020 coverage for HDR video work.

Touch lets users interact directly with content, including drawing, manipulating 3D models, and playing software instruments. Apple says the touch sensor is built into the display panel to reduce latency. Existing apps can work with Touch through macOS, while developers can use updated gesture APIs to create touch-specific features.

The MacBook Pro also brings Dynamic Island to Mac. It can display information and controls, including calls, music, and Live Activities.

Performance, design and connectivity

The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are designed for demanding professional workflows, including software development, video editing, 3D work, and on-device AI tasks. The MacBook Pro supports up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage.

Apple says the redesigned models are thinner and lighter. The 14-inch model weighs 3 pounds, while the 16-inch model weighs 4 pounds. Other features include a six-speaker audio system, a 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-quality microphones, three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6. The M5 Pro model supports up to three external displays, while the M5 Max model supports up to four.

The laptops run macOS 27. Apple also says they contain 55 percent recycled material overall and were manufactured using 45 percent renewable electricity across the supply chain.

Pricing and availability

Pre-orders opened on October 28 through Apple’s online store and the Apple Store app in 30 countries and regions. Apple says customer deliveries and availability in Apple Store locations and at Apple Authorized Resellers begin Friday, November 6.

In the UAE, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro starts at AED 11,999, or AED 11,399 with education savings. The 16-inch M5 Pro model starts at AED 14,499, or AED 13,599 with education savings.

The 14-inch M5 Max model starts at AED 19,299, or AED 17,999 with education savings. The 16-inch M5 Max model starts at AED 20,999, or AED 19,599 with education savings. Further specifications and configuration options are available on Apple’s MacBook Pro page.

Apple chief hardware officer Johny Srouji said the display combines tandem OLED technology with algorithms in the display engine. He also said Touch and the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips offer new ways to interact with content and support demanding workflows.

The new MacBook Pro combines a revised display and touch interface with updated chips, connectivity, and portability features for professional users.
