The Artificial Intelligence Office in the UAE has launched UAE Vibe Codes, an initiative focused on Vibe Coding, as part of UAE Codes Day. The day is celebrated annually on 29th October.

This year’s theme is Vibe Coding. The initiative helps people turn their ideas into websites and digital applications using artificial intelligence. It takes just minutes and requires no prior programming experience.

Strong Early Interest

The initiative was developed in collaboration with Microsoft. It attracted 5,000 participants within its first hour of launch.

This response reflects growing interest in AI-powered innovation. It also reflects the UAE’s continued efforts to make technology development more accessible.

How Participants Can Take Part

The experience is available at https://uaecodesday.specnt.com. Participants describe their ideas in natural language. AI-powered tools then help turn those ideas into working prototypes of websites or digital applications.

The process is simple. It places human creativity, purpose and ideas at the center of technology development.

Participants can build a range of solutions. These include a website to address a workplace challenge, an app to organise daily tasks, a digital tool to support a startup, or an innovative educational solution.

The prototypes can then be tested, refined and developed further. This opens new opportunities to address challenges and enhance well-being.

Open to All Backgrounds

The initiative invites people across the UAE to take part. Age, background and field of expertise do not matter.

It is open to students, educators, entrepreneurs, business owners and employees in the government and private sectors. No prior coding knowledge is required.

In a few minutes, participants can discover this approach. Users guide AI tools through natural language to create software, websites and applications. The focus stays on the idea, its purpose and the desired outcome.

Minister’s Perspective

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, said the UAE continues to build a national model for empowering society with the tools of the future. He added that this strengthens the country’s ability to use advanced technologies to develop solutions and create new opportunities.

He noted that the true value of AI lies in expanding the horizons of human innovation. It unlocks new ways to turn ideas into reality.

According to Al Olama, the initiative aims to help individuals benefit from rapid advances in digital solution development. It also seeks to build their confidence in their ability to innovate and respond to the needs and aspirations of society.

He added that UAE Codes Day is a national opportunity to broaden public participation in shaping the digital future. It reinforces the idea that what once seemed beyond reach is now within everyone’s grasp. These emerging capabilities also create new opportunities to strengthen the UAE’s global standing and competitiveness.

Wide Participation Across Sectors

UAE Codes Day sees broad participation from government entities, private sector organisations and entrepreneurs. Participants include:

  • Ministry of Education
  • Ministry of Justice
  • General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat
  • UAE Space Agency
  • Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)
  • Etisalat UAE
  • du
  • Emirates Health Services (EHS)
  • Emirates NBD
  • Furjan Dubai

Hands-On Workshops

As part of the celebrations, the UAE Office of Artificial Intelligence is organising hands-on workshops. These are held with technology and industry partners, including Google, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), Siemens and IBM.

The workshops introduce participants to the concept of Vibe Coding. They also help participants use AI-powered tools to create websites and digital applications.

Each session follows a simple path. Participants first identify an idea or challenge. They then use AI tools to develop an initial digital prototype.

This learning-by-doing approach equips participants with new skills for daily life and work. It also opens new opportunities to expand the use of coding across different sectors.

Reaching the Wider Community

The Office of Artificial Intelligence is also working with Emaar and cinemas across the UAE. Together, they will promote the UAE Vibe Codes experience through their digital screens and platforms.

These efforts aim to bring UAE Codes Day closer to more people. They encourage individuals and families to explore AI-powered coding firsthand.

The collaboration also highlights the role of government and private sector partnerships in advancing national initiatives. Community spaces and platforms help promote digital literacy. They also give the public a chance to discover emerging technologies.

Background to UAE Codes Day

In October 2021, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, directed that 29th October be designated annually as UAE Codes Day.

The date commemorates the launch of the region’s first e-government initiative on 29th October 2001. That milestone laid the foundations for the region’s digital transformation. It also supported the UAE’s evolution into a nation driven by technology and innovation.

In November 2023, UNESCO adopted the UAE’s proposal to designate 29th October as the International Day of Programming. The recognition reflected the UAE’s position in programming and technology. It also reaffirmed the country as a global destination for talent and creative minds.

Building the Digital Future Together

The initiative reflects the UAE’s vision of placing people at the center of technological advancement. It uses technology to empower individuals and expand their contribution to development.

By broadening access to digital skills and tools, Vibe Coding gives more people a way to share their ideas. It reinforces the principle that building the digital future is both a shared responsibility and a collective opportunity.
