Vertiv Holdings Co. (NYSE: VRT) has introduced the Vertiv™ SmartIT solution to simplify AI infrastructure deployment. The pre-engineered architecture is designed for enterprises, research institutions and colocation providers. It supports both existing facilities and new data centers.

The solution is based on NVIDIA MGX™ and OCP ORV3 architecture. It supports deployment in enterprise facilities, new builds, commercial spaces, colocation and hyperscale environments without redesign.

Vertiv™ SmartIT was previously deployed with NVIDIA to support the NVIDIA DGX™ GB300. It integrates rack infrastructure, DC power conversion and distribution, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, in-rack cooling distribution and monitoring. All of these come in a factory-validated design.

Vertiv validates these systems before shipment. As a result, on-site integration becomes less complex. The solution connects to facility power and cooling infrastructure. It is available now for AI deployments globally.

Scott Armul, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Vertiv, explained the thinking behind the launch. “AI is fundamentally changing the demands placed on data center infrastructure, requiring closer coordination across power, cooling and IT systems to support increasingly complex workloads,” he said.

He added that SmartIT reflects Vertiv’s approach to this challenge. “Vertiv™ SmartIT reflects our approach to solving that challenge by bringing these disciplines together in a factory-validated architecture,” said Armul. “By combining Vertiv’s expertise across critical infrastructure, we’re helping customers simplify deployment, build greater consistency into their AI environments and establish a foundation that can evolve alongside their computing needs.”

Vertiv™ SmartIT addresses several key deployment challenges:

  • Deployment timelines compress: Factory validation replaces on-site integration. Commissioning scope is limited to facility connections.
  • Multi-vendor coordination is reduced: Customers get a single order, one partner and one architecture spanning rack, power, cooling and monitoring.
  • Existing spaces become AI-ready: Brownfield enterprise facilities and Class A commercial buildings can support AI-class density without full reconstruction.
  • Scalability becomes repeatable: The same building block supports growth from single rack to multi-rack deployments. No redesign is needed between phases.
  • Operational visibility increases: Integrated leak detection, automated response and continuous monitoring provide visibility from rack to site. These capabilities are built in from day one rather than assembled from separate vendor tools.

The platform supports NVIDIA GB300 NVL72, NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72, NVIDIA DGX™ Rubin NVL8 and NVIDIA HGX™ Rubin NVL8. It runs on NVIDIA MGX™ and Open Compute Project (OCP) ORV3 architectures. Customers can deploy and expand within a common architecture while integrating power, cooling, monitoring and controls.

Operations are also simplified. Built-in monitoring, leak detection and support for Redfish, SNMP and Modbus are included. Meanwhile, Vertiv™ Global Services supports deployment, commissioning and lifecycle management.

Vertiv SmartIT can also be deployed within a broader Vertiv infrastructure architecture. Vertiv™ SmartRun extends integration across the row. Vertiv™ rack power distribution units (rPDU) provide power distribution and monitoring. Vertiv™ Unify offers integrated monitoring, analytics and controls across power and thermal infrastructure. This includes leak detection and coordinated response control. Together, these solutions help customers scale from individual SmartIT deployments to larger AI environments.

Vertiv showcased a Vertiv™ SmartIT with an NVIDIA HGX™ Rubin NVL8 demo unit at NVIDIA GTC Berlin in October. The demo highlighted an integrated architecture designed to support NVIDIA DGX Rubin NVL8 deployments. It allows customers to start at the right scale and expand as AI demand grows.
