TECHx, GBA to host badminton event for tech industry

TECHx Media and Gulf Badminton Academy (GBA) are organising a one-day shuttle badminton tournament next month for tech companies in the country.

The event, which will be held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, will provide participants with networking opportunities as well as a great platform to showcase their athletic abilities, especially in badminton.

The organisers say that the initiative will promote the physical fitness and mental health of those who work in the technology sector, apart from helping in character development, cultural exchange and team bonding.

Mentored by Pullela Gopichand, Chief Coach of the Indian national team and former All-England Open Champion, GBA provides top-notch training facilities and methods. 

Pullela Gopichand, former Indian badminton player and current Chief National Coach for the India National Badminton team, expressed his gratitude to TECHx Media about the event. “The idea behind the tech badminton cup is to get the tech industry in the Middle East to come together and play competitive sports clubbed with business networking opportunities,” he said. We, along with Dubai Sports Council, are promoting badminton in the Gulf region and will be adding multiple corporate tournaments in the future.”

“Participation is the key, and on June 12 we will witness high-octane competition within the UAE’s tech sector.  We hope to see the UAE’s tech industry band together to promote this wonderful sport,” he added.

“Such tournaments have a positive psychological effect on people who are tied to their daily routines and work pressure,” said Poonam Dwivedi, Director – TECHx Events.

“As a leading technology media company in the UAE, we feel it our responsibility to promote healthy activities, as well as their positive impacts within the local tech community,” she stated.

The full-day event will be held on June 26, 2022, at Prime Star Sports Excellence Centre from 10 am to 8 pm. Players from various IT companies will compete in both men’s and women’s categories.

There will be a specially designated area at the venue for the display of tech products where the audience and participants can experience the products and interact with others.
