Acer for Education’s mission is to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Emphasizing hands-on activities, Acer focuses on fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills—essential for students navigating today’s rapidly changing world.

A highlight of this initiative is the organization of technical master classes focused on the care, maintenance, and repair of PCs. These sessions encourage students to manage their equipment responsibly, reducing e-waste and supporting environmental conservation. Through these skills, students also learn self-reliance, a key aspect of independence and responsibility.

Together with Icono, Acer collaborated with The Sant Josep Obrer Educational Center to create the “Acer Classroom,” an innovative space where students in the Middle Degree of Microinformatic Systems and Networks gain hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing equipment. This practical exposure is designed to prepare students for real-world IT careers. “The Acer Classroom in Sant Josep Obrer is one of the most special collaborations we have carried out in recent years,” said Joan Moll, Director of the Educational Center. Andreu Rigo, Head of the IT area, added, “This project bridges the gap between students and the workforce, allowing students to interact with top IT companies.” Juan Carlos Campos, Cycle Tutor, emphasized that these real-world experiences motivate students to pursue their professional goals.

The Acer Classroom exemplifies Acer’s commitment to preparing future IT professionals, providing essential tools and experiences that help students stand out in a competitive job market.

“Acer recognizes the importance of extracurricular activities in helping students explore and choose their preferred career paths,” stated Cristina Pez, Acer EMEA Commercial Director. “As a PC manufacturer, we’re committed to supporting schools in adopting modern learning tools while empowering students to maintain their IT equipment. As the new school year begins, we want to inspire educational institutions to prioritize these impactful activities.”

The master class equips students with useful tips for extending the life of a PC—potentially by 5-8 years. Tips include maximizing battery life, running antivirus scans, removing junk files, defragmenting hard drives, keeping software updated, backing up data, and avoiding overheating. Since Acer’s service is in-house, certified technicians are available to guide students, enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In addition to IT training, Acer has partnered with Drive Lounge to offer a free summer esports academy for 500 children aged 10-16. This initiative immerses young people in motorsport esports, helping them build digital skills and explore career opportunities in gaming. “We’ve been thrilled to partner with Acer for Education on this exciting initiative,” said Paul Bolton, CEO of Drive Lounge. “Our goal is to empower young people to turn their passions into practical skills, paving the way for personal growth and career potential in esports.”

The esports academy combines educational workshops with practical experience on racing simulators, teaching participants about motorsport fundamentals, game mechanics, and career paths in esports.
