Samsung Gulf Electronics is enhancing its SmartThings platform, bringing AI-driven advancements that elevate connected living in the UAE. These updates focus on smart home management, energy efficiency, and family care, marking a significant leap in the home automation sector.

The UAE’s smart home market is experiencing strong growth, projected to expand at a 10% annual rate from 2024 to 2028. Research indicates household penetration of smart home technology will rise from 16% to 23% in the same period, demonstrating the increasing demand for these innovative solutions.

Shafi Alam, Head of Direct-to-Consumer Business & Corporate Marketing at Samsung Gulf Electronics, commented, “Samsung’s SmartThings advancements leverage AI to create intelligent living spaces that adapt to users’ needs, reduce energy consumption, and enhance family well-being. This aligns perfectly with the UAE’s vision for a smarter, more sustainable future.”

The latest SmartThings upgrades include the Smart Energy Saving feature, which optimizes energy use by automatically activating energy-saving modes when most effective, without compromising comfort. The Save Energy While Away function detects when residents are absent and sends alerts to adjust connected devices, reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

Family care features include the Safe and Comfortable Welcome, which prepares the home by adjusting lighting, temperature, and appliances like air purifiers. Parents can also monitor their children’s safety through SmartThings, while pet owners can use the Keep Your Pet Safe and Healthy feature to track pets’ activities remotely.

Security is also a top priority, with Samsung’s Knox platform providing defense-grade protection across the SmartThings ecosystem, safeguarding against cyber threats.

These SmartThings innovations contribute to broader smart city initiatives, with data from connected homes helping optimize urban services like energy distribution and traffic management. This aligns with the UAE’s ambition to make cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi the smartest in the world, with both cities rising in global smart city rankings.

Samsung’s latest SmartThings platform upgrades are setting the stage for a more intelligent, efficient, and sustainable future for the UAE’s smart homes and cities.
