Presight Expands AI and Smart City Initiatives in Kazakhstan

Presight, a global big data analytics company, is taking significant steps to support Kazakhstan’s digital transformation efforts. CEO Thomas Pramotedham met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss expanding cooperation in high-performance computing (HPC), digital transformation, and the implementation of advanced AI technologies in the country. The meeting focused on the strategic importance of developing digital infrastructure, including the establishment of a supercomputer cluster in Kazakhstan, as well as the localization of technology and increasing participation from Kazakhstani companies in joint initiatives.

The $190 million smart city project in Astana was also a major topic of discussion. This project, a partnership with the City of Astana, will integrate AI-driven solutions to enhance urban infrastructure management. Key initiatives include the establishment of an AI command center at Alem.AI National Centre for Artificial Intelligence, aimed at improving the efficiency of municipal services. Presight will deploy cutting-edge AI algorithms for predictive traffic analytics, automated incident detection, vehicle recognition, and anomaly detection, optimizing urban operations and reducing response times to incidents.

CEO Thomas Pramotedham praised Kazakhstan’s leadership in adopting smart nation technology and expressed full support for the Alem.AI initiative. He highlighted that Presight is ready to provide the necessary technology, expertise, and resources to position Kazakhstan as a leader in the digital economy.

This meeting comes after Presight’s 2024 appointment by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Digital Development and Samruk-Kazyna to develop a state-of-the-art AI supercomputer and data center cluster to further the country’s digital transformation. Presight is also involved in discussions with Zhenis Kassymbek, Mayor of Astana, regarding the launch and progress of the smart city project, as well as with Magzhan Madiev, CEO of Astana Hub, on the integration of the AI command center at Alem.AI. Further meetings with Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), focused on potential investment opportunities within the AIFC ecosystem.

As part of its commitment to Kazakhstan’s economic growth, Presight has pledged that 60% of the smart city project’s scope will remain within Kazakhstan, creating jobs and contributing to local value creation. The company is rapidly expanding its office and workforce in the country to support the IT sector’s growth and the nation’s AI and digital economy ambitions.
