Amazon has announced the launch of its first fulfilment centre in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). The new facility aims to advance logistics, accelerate delivery speeds, and expand product selection for customers. It also supports Abu Dhabi’s retail sector by empowering SMEs and entrepreneurs in the digital economy.

Located in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), the centre sets a benchmark for technological innovation and operational excellence.

The inauguration was attended by Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED); Badr Al-Olama, Director-General of ADIO; Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs; and Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmad, CEO of KEZAD Group. Senior officials from ADDED and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce were also present.

The facility leverages Amazon’s advanced automation to enable same-day delivery across a wide range of products. Abu Dhabi Customs’ efficient clearance processes further ensure smooth operations.

Badr Al-Olama highlighted that the partnership strengthens Abu Dhabi’s logistics and digital commerce ecosystem. “Through ADIO’s collaboration with Amazon, we are creating opportunities for SMEs while supporting priority sectors such as retail, wholesale, and ICT,” he said.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori added that Abu Dhabi Customs is committed to supporting global companies in e-commerce and logistics, aligning with the emirate’s vision to become a regional and global hub for smart trade.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye, said, “This fulfilment centre demonstrates Amazon’s long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Our collaboration with ADIO, Abu Dhabi Customs, and KEZAD supports the digital economy and empowers local businesses to thrive online.”

The centre houses an Innovation Lab, equipped with 3D printing systems, package testing equipment, and ergonomic assessment tools. The lab has achieved a 93% success rate across more than 500 tests and reduced process lead times by 59%.

With storage capacity for up to 8 million units, nearly half the centre is dedicated to sellers using Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA). Products span over 30 categories, including home, kitchen, groceries, beauty, and electronics. The facility operates 24/7 to ensure fast delivery.
