Corning Incorporated and Meta Platforms have announced a multiyear agreement worth up to $6 billion to accelerate the buildout of advanced data centers in the United States. The Corning Meta partnership will see Corning supply its latest optical fiber, cable, and connectivity solutions to support Meta’s apps, technologies, and AI infrastructure.

As part of the deal, Corning will expand its manufacturing capabilities in North Carolina. This includes a major capacity increase at its optical cable facility in Hickory, where Meta will be the anchor customer. The investment is expected to grow Corning’s workforce in the state by 15 to 20 percent, sustaining a skilled team of over 5,000 employees, including scientists, engineers, and production staff.

Wendell P. Weeks, Chairman and CEO of Corning, said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to innovate and manufacture critical technologies for next-generation data centers in the US. He added that the partnership strengthens domestic supply chains and ensures advanced data centers are built using American innovation and manufacturing.

Meta is also reinforcing its dedication to industry-leading US data centers and sourcing advanced domestic technology. Joel Kaplan, Meta’s Chief Global Affairs Officer, highlighted that the collaboration will create skilled, well-paying jobs, support local economies, and help maintain the US lead in AI.

The Corning Meta partnership is a significant step toward expanding US manufacturing of high-performance fiber optic cables and advanced connectivity solutions for AI-driven data centers.
