Digital School announced that 340 teachers have joined the Digital Teacher Preparation Programme at the Teacher Training Institute in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

The programme is part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. It is delivered by the Global Digital Teacher Academy. As a result, it reflects accelerated efforts to advance digital transformation in education and support underserved communities.

The programme aims to empower teachers in the Mauritania with international standards. It enhances professional capabilities and supports digital transformation in the national education system. In addition, it focuses on learning skills and digital classroom management tools.

With this milestone, total beneficiaries from teacher training programmes in Mauritania have exceeded 2,070 teachers. Notably, female participation has surpassed 45 percent. Therefore, this highlights growing gender balance and the increasing role of women in digital education.

Moreover, the initiative underscores the Digital School’s role in preparing teachers for the future of education. It also aligns with the evolving demands of the digital age.

The programme is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and Education System Reform. It is also delivered in partnership with Arizona State University. Together, they target teachers at the Teacher Training Institute in Nouakchott. This supports knowledge transfer and builds competencies aligned with global best practices.

During the current phase, 340 teachers registered on the Global Digital Teacher Academy platform. They also received in-person training on platform usage and digital learning pathways.

Furthermore, 240 teachers completed the orientation course. Meanwhile, more than 100 teachers finished the advanced Teacher in the Digital Classroom programme. This programme focuses on integrating digital tools effectively into classrooms.

Waleed Al Ali said investing in teachers remains key to building digital education ecosystems. He added that the Digital School continues expanding specialised programmes. These efforts enhance teacher readiness and support educational transformation.

He further noted that the initiative goes beyond training. It works with partners to redesign teacher preparation systems for advanced digital learning environments. He explained that the programme combines in-class training with digital learning. As a result, it ensures effective knowledge transfer and long-term impact.

In addition, he highlighted that international partnerships improve training quality. They also provide advanced content aligned with global standards. Consequently, results in Mauritania demonstrate the effectiveness of the training model.

Mohamed El Amin Al Ban stated that collaboration with the Digital School has advanced teacher preparation. It has also strengthened national digital capabilities and infrastructure.

He added that the model is scalable and can expand across other institutes in Mauritania. It has already enabled hundreds of teachers to access advanced training. Therefore, it improves readiness for modern education demands.

He emphasised that expanding this cooperation will positively impact the national education system. It will also strengthen digital learning adoption.

The programme has now been integrated into the institute’s official curriculum. This marks a strategic step toward modernising teacher preparation. In 2025, the institute was equipped with advanced technologies. It also developed a fully integrated learning environment aligned with the UNESCO digital education model.

Additionally, the programme follows a hybrid training model. It combines hands-on training with remote learning through the Global Digital Teacher Academy. This ensures interactive and effective learning outcomes.

The initiative traces back to November 2020. At that time, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the Digital School. It is the world’s first internationally accredited digital school focused on innovative learning pathways.

Since then, it has reached over 850,000 beneficiaries across 40 countries. It offers programmes in seven languages. It also partners with governments, organisations, and universities. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in the United States.

Overall, the initiative highlights how the Digital School continues to expand global access to digital education and strengthen teacher capabilities worldwide.
