This commitment aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of becoming a global leader in government innovation under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

In a significant move towards realizing this vision, 22 Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers have been appointed across various government entities in Dubai. These officers will lead specialized initiatives in AI and advanced technology.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the strategic importance of these appointments, stating, “The appointment of 22 Chief AI Officers across government entities in Dubai underscores our forward-thinking approach to leverage AI for enhancing government operations. This initiative will not only advance Dubai’s expertise in AI but also solidify its position as a global leader in innovative solutions powered by advanced technology.”

He further elaborated on the pivotal role AI plays in Dubai’s future, saying, “The rapid integration of AI and the development of its tools align with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision of positioning Dubai as a global hub for AI solutions’ development and deployment.”

These appointments mark the initial phase of Dubai’s journey towards realizing the future of government work as outlined in the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (DUB.AI). This blueprint aims to enhance residents’ quality of life and support Dubai’s ambition to become the most future-ready city globally.

The newly appointed Chief AI Officers will represent various government entities across Dubai, including the Community Development Authority, Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, and several others. Their collective efforts are expected to translate Dubai’s ambitious plans into actionable strategies that will shape the future of AI-driven government operations in the emirate.

The establishment of the Chief AI Officer position under DUB.AI reflects Dubai’s commitment to AI governance and legislation, fostering AI adoption across strategic sectors. Additionally, it reinforces Dubai’s standing as a global technology and innovation hub, as evidenced by its top 10 position in the Global AI Readiness Index.
