Dubai announced new leadership changes within the Dubai Media Council. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, issued Executive Council Resolution No. (92) of 2025. The resolution appoints Hesham Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Olama as CEO of the Media Development Sector at the Dubai Media Council.

He also issued Resolution No. (93) of 2025. It transfers Rashid Humaid Saeed Al Marri from the Government of Dubai Media Office and appoints him as CEO of the Media Regulation Sector at the Dubai Media Council. Officials reported that both resolutions take effect from 1 November 2025 and will be published in the Official Gazette.

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, expressed her appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan. She revealed that the leadership’s trust in two experienced Emirati professionals reflects its commitment to strengthening Dubai Media and building a unified framework for the sector’s development.

She emphasised that the Dubai Media Council continues its work under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. She noted that the new appointments support the Council’s mission to advance Dubai Media with the support of national talent.

She also reported that the Dubai Media Council is the official authority overseeing the media sector in line with Decree No. (66) of 2024. The Council follows global best practices, responds to rapid technological advancements, and adapts to evolving media platforms that require flexible regulation.

The appointments are expected to strengthen Dubai Media and advance its vision to become a regional hub for media creativity and high-quality content. The step also aims to support local media, encourage international partnerships, and empower Emirati youth.

• Prioritising human capital and nurturing creative Emirati talent

The programmes of the Dubai Media Council aim to build a new generation of media professionals capable of producing world-class content.
