Dubai Sustainable City Unveils Delivery Robots

The Sustainable City Dubai has unveiled an exciting new pilot project featuring autonomous delivery robots, in collaboration with Dubai Future Labs and Lyve Global. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant advancement in sustainable urban living, with three cutting-edge delivery robots set to begin operations within the community this month.

Developed by Dubai Future Labs, these robots are designed to provide efficient and eco-friendly delivery services from local restaurants and shops directly to residents. Utilizing a smart interface powered by Lyve Global, the robots are expected to enhance convenience while contributing to sustainability goals by reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions.

The Sustainable City Dubai, known for its fully pedestrianized and car-free residential clusters, is the ideal setting for this pilot. The community’s design aligns perfectly with the deployment of autonomous technologies, creating a controlled environment that promotes safety and efficiency. The robots are equipped to navigate sidewalks independently and locate charging stations without human assistance, ensuring seamless operation and rapid delivery within 30 minutes.

Khalifa Al Qama, Director of Dubai Future Labs at Dubai Future Foundation, emphasized the project’s role in advancing robotics technology within Dubai’s transportation and logistics sectors. He noted that the initiative supports Dubai’s broader vision of becoming a global leader in robotics and automation, as outlined in the Dubai Robotics and Automation Program launched in 2022 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Fadi Alfaris, GM of NZE Solutions at SEE Holding, praised The Sustainable City as a perfect testing ground for autonomous delivery robots. He highlighted the community’s future-ready design, which provides a safe and controlled environment for optimizing robot performance and efficiency.

Hassan Hallas, CEO of Lyve Global, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that the project represents a major step forward in revolutionizing logistics. He emphasized the commitment to innovation and sustainability, which aligns with Dubai’s goal to make 25% of all trips autonomous by 2030.

The deployment of these delivery robots not only enhances convenience for residents but also underscores The Sustainable City Dubai’s dedication to integrating advanced technologies and sustainable practices.
