e& UAE has announced the deployment of the GCC’s first Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU from Huawei on its live 5G network. The advanced radio unit is designed to enhance 5G network performance while reducing energy use and equipment requirements, delivering a more sustainable service for customers across the UAE.

Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, Senior Vice President of Access Network Development at e& UAE, revealed that the deployment marks a breakthrough in compact, high-performance network technology. He added that it is an important milestone toward achieving net zero by 2030 and enabling 5G-Advanced.

By merging two 5G frequency bands into one intelligent unit, the solution cuts equipment needs in half while improving coverage, speed, and energy efficiency.

• The unit combines 2.6GHz and 3.5GHz frequencies, lowering power consumption by 35%.
• Smart energy saving features, including symbol-level sleep, reduce usage by an additional 15% during low traffic periods.

The advanced antenna technology doubles the capacity of traditional units, with 384 antenna units compared to 192. This improves coverage, strengthens indoor signals, and boosts connectivity in high-traffic areas by 30–60%.

Unlike traditional setups requiring separate installations for each band, this integrated approach reduces the equipment footprint by 60% and halves deployment time, enabling faster network rollouts.

The company reported that technologies like the Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU will play a key role in advancing 5G networks in the UAE, creating a more connected and energy-efficient future. This deployment also reinforces e& UAE’s commitment to building smarter and more sustainable networks for the nation’s digital growth.
