Nigeria is emerging as a hub in Africa’s digital economy. GITEX NIGERIA 2025 highlights the country’s powerful tech ecosystem, which is growing rapidly with support from government initiatives, global tech enterprises, and a thriving startup community. These developments aim to help Nigeria achieve a US$1 trillion economy by 2030.

Central to this growth is upskilling local talent and expanding grassroots organizations. The inaugural edition of GITEX NIGERIA will act as a convergence point for key local and international decision-makers across tech and multiple sectors embracing digital transformation.

Held under the patronage of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, GITEX NIGERIA premieres in Abuja and Lagos from 1-4 September 2025. The event is supported by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy in collaboration with NITDA, endorsed by Lagos State Government, and organized by KAOUN International.

The opening day in Abuja on 1 September features a Government Leadership & AI Summit. Leaders will discuss the growth of digital infrastructure, AI, and innovation. Hon. Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, said Nigeria aims to move from being a passive consumer of AI to a global producer of talent and solutions.

The programme then moves to Lagos from 3-4 September. The Eko Hotel Convention Centre will host the Tech Expo & Future Economy Conference, while the Landmark Centre will welcome the Startup Festival. This will be West Africa’s largest gathering of technology visionaries, industry leaders, and decision-makers driving digital transformation in non-tech sectors.

H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, highlighted Lagos as a key destination for innovation and digital solutions. Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General/CEO of NITDA, described GITEX NIGERIA as a cornerstone for Africa’s digital renaissance.

Global tech giants, including IBM operated by MIBB, are actively participating to support talent development and digital infrastructure. Vishnu Taimni, General Manager of IBM, said the event provides an opportunity to co-create technologies that empower industries and communities.

Lagos, home to 23 of Nigeria’s 28 fastest-growing companies, will also host the Startup Festival. This platform will connect startups, investors, corporates, and industry leaders. The UNDP will present its pan-African timbuktoo initiative, bringing public and private capital together to support startups addressing global challenges.
