Google has announced the launch of Gemini Drops, a new monthly update series for its Gemini app. The initiative is aimed at highlighting new features, improvements, and usage tips for Gemini users.

In the first edition of Gemini Drops, Google revealed several new capabilities added to the Gemini app and platform.

One of the key updates includes the introduction of Veo 3, which allows users to transform photos into short eight-second video clips with sound. This feature is now available directly within the Gemini app.

Google also reported that Gemini is now supported on all smartwatches running Wear OS 4 and above. This brings voice assistance and app features to users’ wrists, enabling hands-free interactions without needing a phone.

Additionally, a new feature called Scheduled Actions has been introduced. Users can now set Gemini to perform tasks automatically, such as summarizing calendar events and unread emails each morning.

The company stated that Gemini 2.5 Pro, the platform’s most advanced model, has received improvements in areas such as coding, science, reasoning, and multimodal benchmarks.

Another update includes the addition of captions to Gemini Live. This feature lets users read along during live conversations with Gemini, responding to frequent user requests.

Key highlights from the first Gemini Drops update:

  • Veo 3 for photo-to-video conversion with sound
  • Wear OS 4+ support for Gemini app on smartwatches
  • Scheduled Actions for task automation
  • Enhanced performance in Gemini 2.5 Pro
  • Captions added to Gemini Live

Google confirmed that Gemini Drops will continue each month to keep users informed about ongoing developments in the Gemini app and platform.
