H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), officially inaugurated the 18th edition of Light + Intelligent Building Middle East, the premier event for the lighting and building technology industries in the region. The exhibition is taking place from January 14-16 at the Dubai World Trade Centre and features over 440 exhibitors from 34 countries.
The event, which is expected to draw significant attention from government representatives, industry leaders, and international associations, will focus on the theme “Building Commonality Through Community, Creativity, and Culture.”
During the opening tour, H.E. Al Tayer visited several exhibitor stands, including major companies like LEDVANCE, Honeywell Lighting (Vesra), Illus (Marketing Home Group), Vimar, Broadlink, and NuLumenTek.
Abdul Muhsin, Show Director for Light + Intelligent Building Middle East, highlighted the event’s robust lineup, stating, “The 2025 edition will feature over 150 speakers across three stages: THINKLIGHT, InSpotLight, and the Smart Building Summit. The event will also host expert-led workshops and culminate with a prestigious awards night on January 16, bringing together over 550 leaders from the global lighting industry.”
Smart Building Summit Kicks Off
The Smart Building Summit commenced with an opening address by Azmi S. Aboulhoda, CEO of EMergy. Over the next three days, the summit will explore key topics such as ‘Regulatory Standards and Compliance Governing Smart Buildings’, ‘Cybersecurity in Smart Buildings’, and ‘The ROI of Smart Buildings’. Representatives from leading international organizations, government bodies, and industry experts, including the UAE Circular Economy Council, Dubai Municipality, buildingSmart (UK and Ireland), and the Supreme Council of Energy, will participate in the discussions.
THINKLIGHT Conference Explores Lighting Innovations
The THINKLIGHT conference is set to delve into the transformative power of lighting design and technology. Kicking off with a keynote speech on ‘The Evolution of Lighting Design in the Middle East: 25 Years of Shaping the Region’s Lighting Design Practice’ by dpa Lighting Consultants, the conference will spotlight Saudi Arabia’s role as a global epicenter for innovative lighting, exploring creative opportunities in the region’s lighting industry.
InSpotLight Stage to Showcase ‘Product of the Year’ Competition
The InSpotLight stage will feature the highly anticipated ‘Specifiers’ Arena – Product Pitch’, a live on-stage event showcasing the final round of judging for the Product of the Year category at the Light Middle East Awards 2025. Day two will focus on outdoor smart lighting, IoT integration, and the skills needed to prepare the next generation of lighting designers.
Event Highlights
Light + Intelligent Building Middle East covers six main product sections: Technical Lighting, Electric Lamps and Components, Decorative Lighting, Architectural Lighting, Electrical Engineering, and Smart Home and Building Automation. The event also features dedicated country pavilions from China, Hong Kong, and Germany.
The event enjoys strong support from global organizations such as KNX, the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL), the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and more. It is co-located with Intersec, creating the largest trade fair for the building services sector in the MENA region.
