Mubadala Investment Company, in partnership with Antler and Hub71, announced the launch of the National Founders Program in Abu Dhabi.

The six-week venture-building initiative aims to turn breakthrough university research into startups aligned with industry needs. The program reflects Mubadala’s investment in Antler and its commitment to advancing the UAE’s innovation ecosystem.

Antler will lead the early phases, including ideation, venture validation and founder development. Meanwhile, Hub71 will host the program and provide scale-up support, connecting academic research with Abu Dhabi’s broader tech and investment ecosystem.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Access to Hub71’s network of mentors, experts and partners
  • Founder-focused services including regulatory support and go-to-market pathways
  • Tailored workshops, soft-landing support and investor connectivity

Ali AlMheiri, Executive Director, Diversified Assets of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, said the program will transform high-potential research into scalable ventures. He added it aligns with Mubadala’s mission to incubate high-growth sectors and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s knowledge economy.

Romain Assuncao, Managing Partner, Antler in MENAP, reported that Abu Dhabi is becoming a hub for research-led innovation, supported by strong infrastructure and talent.

Ahmad Ali Alwan, CEO of Hub71, revealed that empowering local talent to build scalable ventures is vital for growing homegrown startups. He emphasized that Hub71 will provide the tools, expertise and networks to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a destination for entrepreneurship.

The program targets high-potential research talent from Abu Dhabi universities. Selected participants will gain access to a curated curriculum, coaching and connections to global networks of Antler and Mubadala. Corporate collaboration will also enable startups to partner with established companies for piloting, co-development and strategic support.
