Microsoft has announced plans to invest approximately $80 billion in expanding its data center infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) during the current fiscal year, which concludes at the end of June. According to the German press agency (dpa), over half of this investment will be directed to the United States.
The tech giant revealed in a blog post on Friday that the enhanced computing capacity will support the training of AI models and the rollout of AI-powered features on a global scale.
Microsoft has emerged as a leader in AI innovation, largely due to its multi-billion-dollar partnership with OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT. The company is now focused on integrating AI capabilities across its entire product portfolio, strengthening its position in the competitive AI market.
This massive investment underscores Microsoft’s commitment to scaling AI technologies and meeting the growing demand for advanced AI solutions worldwide.
