Portworx Enterprise has introduced new capabilities to support organizations running enterprise-level VMs and containers across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments. These updates from Everpure (NYSE: PSTG) enable faster provisioning, simplified automation, and time savings through a proven enterprise-grade platform. Notably, the solution has already migrated over a hundred thousand VM volumes to Kubernetes.

Meanwhile, organizations relying on virtual machines are re-evaluating their virtualization strategies. They are increasingly moving to Kubernetes to run critical applications. According to the Portworx 2026 Voice of Kubernetes Report, 71% of organizations plan to modernize or migrate their VMs to Kubernetes. However, migrating at scale brings challenges such as performance, operational risk, and security.

Furthermore, the report highlights that 56% of organizations consider backup, disaster recovery, and high availability as critical capabilities in any new virtualization platform. As a result, enterprises are seeking proven, enterprise-ready solutions that support both traditional VMs and container-based applications. They also require platforms that ensure secure, compliant, and reliable large-scale migrations.

In response, Portworx Enterprise now delivers enhanced capabilities for data storage, governance, and security. These features make it easier to migrate and run VMs on Kubernetes at enterprise scale. The platform already supports over a hundred thousand VM volumes across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments. Consequently, enterprises are adopting it as a foundational solution for Kubernetes deployments.

Additionally, the updates introduce a unified storage and data management layer for running VMs and containers. Built for Day 2 data operations, the platform streamlines workflows and coordination across Kubernetes environments. It also includes repeatable frameworks and tools to simplify operations. For example, an open-source VM Readiness Assessment tool helps test scenarios and evaluate performance readiness. Moreover, validated frameworks support KubeVirt and stateful commercial applications like ELK on Kubernetes.

Security remains a key focus. Portworx integrates encryption, policy-driven data placement, and access controls directly into the platform. It also supports secure boot for air-gapped environments. At the same time, it delivers enterprise-grade business continuity and disaster recovery with app-aware data protection, backup, and recovery services for mission-critical workloads.

In addition, governance capabilities provide storage class-level monitoring for data storage, compliance, and location policies. This ensures regulatory alignment and audit compliance across on-premise, hybrid, and multi-cloud Kubernetes deployments.

As organizations bridge traditional reliability with cloud-native agility, these updates support faster adoption of modern virtualization. The platform enables repeatable VM migration with validated architectures. Therefore, enterprises can save time and reduce costs while benefiting from a unified and automated experience.

Greg Muscarella, GM of Portworx by Everpure, said the shift to modern virtualization is accelerating. He noted that as VMs join AI and cloud-native applications on Kubernetes, organizations require performance, protection, and governance at global scale. He added that with over a hundred thousand VM volumes already deployed, the platform is delivering a future-proof solution today.

Johnny Yu, Research Manager at IDC, highlighted that organizations are exploring modern virtualization approaches. He explained that integrating VM-based workloads with containerized applications requires strong enterprise data services, protection, and governance. He added that platforms like Portworx by Everpure can support these evolving operational needs.

Overall, Portworx Enterprise continues to enable enterprises to modernize virtualization strategies and manage complex migrations with confidence at scale, reinforcing the value of Portworx Enterprise.
