Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ: STX) announced the launch of its new Seagate Exos 4U100 and 4U74 JBOD systems ahead of the SuperComputing (SC25) conference. These enterprise storage platforms are purpose-built for data-centric environments at both the data center and the edge. They deliver up to 3.2 petabytes of storage in a single high-density enclosure.

The company reported that the Exos 4U100 and 4U74 systems address growing storage needs driven by generative AI, disaggregated architectures, and evolving data sovereignty requirements. Both systems offer advanced SAS-4 JBOD storage solutions designed to streamline operations, enhance energy efficiency, and provide scalable storage capabilities powered by Seagate’s Mozaic™ innovation.

Generative AI is reshaping enterprise storage demands. According to a recent IDC study sponsored by Seagate, 78% of organizations are now generating new types of content, increasing storage requirements. Adam Wright, Research Manager at IDC, noted, “The key question is no longer whether data volumes will rise, but how enterprises can harness that scale to deliver measurable value.”

Seagate highlighted that the Exos 4U100 JBOD is designed for edge storage innovation. Melyssa Banda, SVP Edge Storage and Services at Seagate, said it is engineered to meet the demands of data creation, replication, and analysis at the edge. She added that it demonstrates Seagate’s commitment to enabling organizations to retain more data for longer periods while assessing the value of their information for business outcomes.

The Exos 4U100 leverages Seagate’s latest Mozaic HAMR technology. It delivers high-density storage, energy efficiency, and rapid data throughput. The platform supports petabyte-scale AI and ML workflows, frequent model checkpointing, long-term retention, and continuous data ingestion.

Key benefits of the Exos 4U JBOD systems include:

  • Industry-leading capacity: up to 3.2 petabytes in one enclosure, supporting current and next-generation drives.
  • Operational efficiency: 70% more efficient cooling and 30% lower power use than previous generations.
  • Flexible deployment: SAS or SATA support, tool-less access, and compatibility with various rack depths.
  • Enterprise-grade security: secure boot, Seagate Secure™ certificate, Redfish management, and compliance-ready for data sovereignty.

Seagate’s launch of the Exos 4U100 and 4U74 underscores its focus on enterprise storage innovation, supporting organizations’ evolving AI, edge, and hybrid data workflows.
