Sony Middle East and Africa have announced a strategic collaboration with Zoom Video Communications, Inc., paving the way for Zoom’s integration into Sony’s BRAVIA TVs equipped with BRAVIA CAM technology. This innovative partnership enables users to seamlessly engage in video calls and meetings with friends, family, and colleagues from the comfort of their living rooms. Remarkably, Sony’s BRAVIA stands as the inaugural TV brand to offer the Zoom for TV application on the Google Play Store.

By incorporating Zoom into BRAVIA TVs, users can harness the full spectrum of functionalities that define Zoom as a frontrunner in the realm of video communication. This encompasses high-quality video conversations on a TV display, screen sharing capabilities, and collaborative tools to enhance interactions. Moreover, the integration capitalizes on BRAVIA CAM’s advanced attributes. Leveraging its ability to detect the user’s positioning within the room and their distance from the television, BRAVIA CAM optimizes audio and visual settings for an ideal experience. The setup process is streamlined – for those utilizing a compatible TV alongside BRAVIA CAM, accessing the Zoom app from Google Play and launching it via the TV remote is the only requirement.

Shusuke Tomonaga, Head of BRAVIA TV Product Design at Sony Corporation’s Product Technology Center, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration: “We are thrilled to partner with Zoom to bring video conferencing to our BRAVIA TVs, expanding Zoom services to the Android TV platform. This collaboration will enable our customers to indulge in more immersive video communication on a grand TV screen within their living spaces. It empowers them to establish deeper connections with their loved ones, whether they are working remotely, engaging in distance learning, or simply reconnecting with friends and family.”

Eric Yu, Head of Hardware Partnership at Zoom, shared his excitement regarding the collaboration: “We are excited to collaborate with Sony to introduce Zoom to their BRAVIA TVs. This integration allows users to relish the convenience of video conferencing on their television screens while benefiting from the robust collaboration tools that Zoom offers.”

The rollout is scheduled as follows: Zoom will be accessible on specific BRAVIA TVs that are compatible with BRAVIA CAM1 in selected countries starting from July 2023.
