TechOman, a new community-driven national technology platform, has officially launched with the goal of connecting technology solution providers directly with society. The initiative also aims to empower Omani youth through practical digital skills, career pathways, and innovation-focused programs.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, TechOman supports the Sultanate’s transition toward a knowledge-based, innovation-led economy. The platform brings together students, academia, technology providers, startups, and industry under a single collaborative hub. It seeks to bridge long-standing gaps between education, innovation, and real-world market needs.

Founded by technology visionary Tariq Hilal Al-Barwani, TechOman emphasizes youth empowerment and academic engagement. The platform will collaborate with colleges and universities to deliver hands-on learning experiences, including hackathons, innovation challenges, competitions, and applied technology programs designed to equip students with market-relevant skills.

In parallel, TechOman will assist technology startups by providing mentorship, guidance, and access to funding opportunities. This will help innovators launch and scale their projects. “Our goal is to build a national community platform that identifies and promotes local talent, creates real job and internship opportunities for youth, and connects technology solution providers directly with society,” said Tariq Al-Barwani.

Al-Barwani has received numerous recognitions, including the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award and acknowledgment as a Youth ICT Influencer by Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology during COMEX. He was also honoured for his technology contributions at the Indian Science Forum Ceremony by the Ambassador of India to Oman.

His experience spans industry and academia, including board roles at Muscat Finance and Majan University College, advisory positions at Introduct Academy and Nortal, and founding Knowledge Oman, a non-profit promoting volunteer-driven learning and community support.

As part of its mission, TechOman will recognize and reward technological innovation through dedicated programs and awards. The initiative aims to foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within Oman’s technology ecosystem. TechOman is expected to become a key driver of innovation and youth development in the Sultanate.
