UAE Joins Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Meeting in Riyadh

The United Arab Emirates, represented by the UAE Cybersecurity Council, took part in the first-ever Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council meeting, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 22-23, 2024. Organized under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, the two-day event aimed to bolster joint Arab efforts in cybersecurity.

Key discussions focused on sharing information about cyber threats, developing unified cybersecurity strategies, and establishing a collaborative Arab system to combat cyberattacks effectively.

Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, delivered a compelling address during the conference. He emphasized the critical importance of comprehensive cybersecurity in achieving a secure and sustainable digital future for the Arab region.

Highlighting the necessity of regional cooperation, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to fostering a safe and resilient digital environment. He underscored that the meeting serves as a pivotal platform to strengthen Arab collaboration in addressing rising cybersecurity threats.

“No single country can confront cybersecurity challenges alone,” Dr. Al-Kuwaiti stated. “Collaborative efforts are essential to build shared capabilities, develop robust digital infrastructure, and protect both national and regional interests.”

He commended Saudi Arabia for its leadership in hosting the landmark meeting, which reflects the nation’s commitment to advancing regional cybersecurity efforts.

The agenda included discussions on developing national and regional cybersecurity strategies, building specialized capabilities, and promoting the exchange of information to counter cyber threats.

The meeting marked a significant step toward forming an Arab Cybersecurity Alliance, aimed at addressing the region’s growing digital challenges. Through collective efforts, the alliance seeks to ensure the sustainability of technological advancements while safeguarding shared interests.
