The Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) concluded the MoD Coding Challenge under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs and Chairman of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council.

UAE nationals competed in coding, cybersecurity, and drone challenges. The event aimed to enhance national security readiness. It also sought to develop the skills of the next generation of Emirati coders, programmers, and cybersecurity specialists, while discovering new national talent.

The challenge ran each hour during the three days of UMEX and SimTEX. Participants completed a series of coding tasks to test their skills. Meanwhile, the Cybersecurity Challenge allowed teams to respond to real-world cyber-attacks and defense scenarios.

Team E, consisting of Muaded Mohamed Al Sahili, Hamdan Owais Alderei, and Khalid Khalifa Alderei, won first place. The team highlighted the value of the Cybersecurity Challenge. They said it helped them apply technical solutions to confront cyber risks. They also appreciated learning from other teams and recognizing national talent in software and cybersecurity.

Second place went to Team T, including Saeed Turki Alshamsi, Buti Hamed Aljneibi, and Hassan Rashid Alyammi. Third place was awarded to Team S, consisting of Zayed Hamad Almazrouei, Hamad Mohammed Alshamsi, and Hamdan Khamis Alzeyoudi.

The UMEX 2026 Drone Challenge tested participants across multiple levels. Teams programmed drones to complete missions focused on efficiency, accuracy, and creativity. The event provided a platform to engage with advanced drone technology and network with industry experts. Fourteen teams participated.

Team XENOPS won first place with a time of 1:46. Team Rubber Ducks finished second at 2:20, while Team Ministry of Peace came third with 2:34.

Winners of both the Cybersecurity and Drone Challenges received cash prizes. First place teams were awarded AED 50,000. Second place received AED 30,000, and third place earned AED 20,000.

The challenges gave participants the chance to showcase expertise in software development, hardware design, and drone operations. They also offered a fun, competitive environment to stay updated on the latest industry technologies.

Participants used state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. This created a professional and competitive atmosphere. UMEX and SimTEX 2026 reaffirmed their status as leading global platforms for drones, robotics, components, and unmanned systems. The events strengthened innovation and growth in the unmanned systems sector.
