The UAE has launched its first specialised AI workshops for religious professionals. The initiative is led by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, in collaboration with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office.

The programme is part of a national strategic effort in partnership with leading global technology companies. It aims to train more than 5,000 imams, preachers, muftis, and religious speakers. The initiative aligns with the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031. It also strengthens the integration between religious institutions and entities shaping the country’s digital future.

More than 600 participants attended the workshop, both in person and virtually. The sessions focused on foundational knowledge and practical concepts of AI technologies. Participants also learned about responsible and ethical AI use. The programme explored challenges and opportunities for applying AI in their professional roles.

The workshops introduced key Microsoft AI technologies. Advanced tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, were showcased for content creation, research, and information organisation. This approach helps participants understand practical applications of AI in their work.

The event was hosted at Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Humanities. It reflects the UAE government’s efforts to accelerate smart solutions, enhance national talent readiness, and build an integrated AI knowledge ecosystem.

The AI workshops are a step forward in promoting digital transformation and innovation among religious professionals. They support the UAE’s commitment to ethical AI and the development of sustainable, specialised training programmes.
