“Veeam Introduces New Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) Offerings for Microsoft 365 and Azure” Veeam Software, a renowned leader in Data Protection and Ransomware Recovery, has unveiled two new offerings that blend the reliability of Veeam’s backup and restore capabilities with the simplicity of Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS). The first offering, Cirrus by Veeam, is now available for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure customers, providing a straightforward, flexible, and robust BaaS solution. This offering allows companies to streamline the management and administration of their backup operations while benefiting from Veeam’s resilient technology.

In Q1 2024, Veeam will introduce an enhanced version of the BaaS offering, accessible through Veeam service providers, the Microsoft Azure marketplace, and Veeam’s online store.

Danny Allan, CTO at Veeam, emphasized, “450,000 customers trust Veeam to protect their business and keep it running, which has led us to become the #1 global provider of data protection and ransomware recovery. We’re now giving customers those trusted capabilities – for Microsoft 365 and for Microsoft Azure – delivered as a service. Through this new BaaS offering, customers have increased flexibility in how they wish to use Veeam to protect their business, whether in the cloud, on-premises or in a hybrid model.”

Cirrus by Veeam, acquired from CT4, utilizes Veeam’s leading data backup and ransomware recovery platform to offer customers several options for managing their Microsoft 365 and Azure data:

  • New Cirrus by Veeam: Provides a simple SaaS experience without the need to manage infrastructure or storage.
  • Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure: Deploys Veeam’s existing software solutions for Microsoft 365 and Azure data protection, allowing customers to manage the infrastructure.
  • Backup service from a Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partner: Built on top of the Veeam platform, with value-added services tailored to the provider’s expertise.

Cirrus for Microsoft 365 simplifies the backup strategy with an all-in-one cloud service, offering trusted, reliable technology, an all-inclusive backup service, and modern, secure, and intuitive features.

Cirrus Cloud Protect for Microsoft Azure provides a fully hosted and pre-configured solution for Azure data protection, ensuring quick ROI, enterprise-readiness, and confident recoverability.

Cirrus by Veeam is currently available via the Azure Marketplace and various distribution channels, with further expansion planned. The integrated Veeam BaaS offerings are scheduled for release in early 2024.

A user shared their positive experience with Cirrus, stating, “The simple-to-use interface was one of the biggest reasons we chose Cirrus to back up our Microsoft 365 data, as well as the ease of set up. We love that Cirrus is powered by Veeam and comes in a SaaS format.”
