Veeam Software, announced the release of its first fully pre-built, pre-hardened software appliance: the new Veeam Software Appliance. The solution is designed to provide IT teams instant data protection without complexity.

The appliance eliminates manual setup, OS patching, and Windows licensing. It can be delivered as a bootable ISO or virtual appliance and runs on a hardened, Veeam-managed Linux OS. This ensures a secure, always-up-to-date foundation for organizations.

Unlike traditional hardware appliances, Veeam’s solution is hardware-agnostic. Customers can deploy it on physical, virtual, or cloud infrastructure while benefiting from automation, resilience, and simplified management. The appliance promises faster time to value, lower costs, and no hardware lock-in.

The new Veeam Software Appliance is based on a hardened Linux “Just Enough OS” (JeOS), optimized for security best practices and maintained automatically. This reduces patching and configuration challenges while providing deployment flexibility.

“Our Veeam Software Appliance enables fast, secure, preconfigured data protection for every organization,” said Anand Eswaran, CEO at Veeam. “It reduces management headaches and delivers instant protection without compromising security or flexibility.”

The software-only solution is simple to deploy and secure from day one. It offers built-in immutability, Zero Trust access controls, and automated patching. Organizations can manage it from anywhere and use it in new deployments, edge sites, or cloud recovery scenarios. The appliance also provides industry-first instant recovery to Azure.

Key features include:

  • Prebuilt, pre-hardened appliance for rapid deployment
  • Hardware-agnostic design for maximum flexibility
  • Veeam-managed Linux OS with automated patching
  • Built-in immutability and Zero Trust controls

Veeam Software Appliance is now available globally as an early release. New customers can try it through a free 30-day trial. The appliance supports Veeam Data Platform Foundation and Advanced editions, with Premium expected in Q4.
