WhatsApp privacy is getting stronger with the launch of a new security feature called Strict Account Settings. The update was announced in a recent blog post as part of the company’s efforts to protect users from advanced cyber threats.

The new feature is designed especially for users who face higher digital risks. These include journalists and public-facing figures. However, it is available to all users who want stronger protection.

With Strict Account Settings enabled, several account options are automatically locked to the most restrictive levels. As a result, some functions become limited. For example, attachments and media from unknown contacts are blocked.

In addition, these restrictions reduce exposure to potential hacking and surveillance attempts. Therefore, users can communicate with greater confidence.

The feature is being rolled out gradually over the coming weeks. Users can activate it by going to Settings, then Privacy, and then Advanced.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp continues to rely on default end-to-end encryption. This ensures that personal messages remain private and secure, similar to in-person conversations.

Moreover, the company has strengthened its internal systems by introducing the Rust programming language. This upgrade helps protect photos, videos, and messages from spyware and other sophisticated attacks.
