At the 2023 Global Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF), the renowned tech company Huawei, in collaboration with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC)’s du, unveiled the world’s first 5G Advanced (5G-A) demonstration Villa, setting a groundbreaking example of future smart home living powered by astonishing 10Gbps networks. Earlier this year, both organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focusing on 5G-A technological innovation, application exploration, and ecosystem development. This recent revelation stands as a testament to their joint innovative capabilities.

The 5G-A Villa represents the seamless fusion of cutting-edge technologies, providing an unparalleled smart home experience enriched with features like naked-eye 3D and XR. As consumers increasingly seek superior experiences, this drives the evolution of content and applications, thereby increasing the demand for network capabilities. To meet these growing needs, carriers are compelled to enhance their home networks to an impressive 10Gbps.

During the launch event, Fahad Al Hassawi, the CEO of du, remarked, “Since the beginning of the 5G era, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) has been a transformative catalyst, enabling us to deliver advanced solutions to our valued customers. As pioneers, we at du are privileged to lead the way with such innovative advancements. Our enduring partnership with Huawei has consistently borne fruit, and with the introduction of FWA², we are ready to redefine the boundaries of user experience, offering our subscribers unparalleled indoor internet connectivity.”

In a similar vein, Li Peng, Corporate Senior Vice President and President of Huawei’s Carrier BG, stated, “Today, Huawei is thrilled to introduce the 5G-A Powered Villa at the Home of the Future. This showcase provides a firsthand glimpse into the limitless possibilities that 5G-Advanced technology will bring to future homes and the superior network experience that 5G-A will offer mobile users. It is the result of du’s unwavering commitment to delivering a superior digital experience. This achievement is just the beginning. Going forward, Huawei will continue to support du in its endeavor to build the finest 5G networks, explore the commercial applications of 5G-Advanced networks, and champion du’s leadership in this transformative era.”

The 5G-A Villa sheds light on the boundless potential that deterministic experience technology holds for the households of the future. Leveraging Huawei’s innovative FWA² solution, it demonstrates how, in the 5G era, FWA has become an operator’s essential tool for rapid user expansion. As we transition to 5G-A/5.5G, the FWA² solution, encompassing FWA Pro, FWA Lite, and FWA Biz, promises unmatched services for discerning customers. Notably, FWA Pro is designed to support an extraordinary speed of 10Gbps, thereby reimagining smart home living and unlocking extensive business opportunities.

The unveiling of the villa coincided with the 14th Global Mobile Broadband Forum, themed “Bring 5.5G into Reality,” held from October 10 to 11 in Dubai, UAE. Hosted by Huawei and supported by industry partners GSMA, GTI, and the SAMENA Telecommunications Council, the forum provided in-depth insights into the achievements of 5G, the maturity of the ecosystem, the rapid commercialization of 5G-A/5.5G, and how mobile broadband technology is shaping the future and revolutionizing people’s lives and industries.
