At MWC 2023, MediaTek will spotlight technology and product highlights from its Dimensity, Filogic, Genio, Kompanio, and Pentonic portfolios, along with a variety of new demos for 5G beyond mobile. MediaTek will also be demonstrating its satellite communications platform and showcasing MediaTek-powered devices across different verticals from some of the world’s biggest brands.

Joe Chen, President of MediaTek said “Our diverse technology portfolio underscores how we’re well-positioned to address the latest trends like bringing 5G and satellite connectivity to a wide range of devices and to deliver advancements in the latest technology.”

Chen said “We’ll also have some of the latest MediaTek-powered devices to highlight how we are delivering incredible experiences in every product category.”

Solutions for Satellite Connectivity, 5G, mmWave, & More

Smartphones and other devices can now use MediaTek’s 5G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) solution, which is built on 3GPP standards. Visitors to the MWC can examine some of the newest products running MediaTek’s NTN solutions at the company’s booth. Additionally, MediaTek will give a first-look demonstration of its newest New Radio NTN (NR-NTN) technology.

MediaTek is not only introducing a new phase of satellite connectivity but also prioritizing the provision of the quickest and most trustworthy 5G connectivity for customers. An illustration of this is their state-of-the-art Access Traffic Steering, Switching, and Splitting (ATSSS) technology. In collaboration with Deutsche Telekom, MediaTek carried out the world’s initial demonstration of the ATSSS 3GPP Release 16 (R16) standard, employing a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 flagship chipset. This exemplifies converged multi-access connectivity that ensures a smooth and improved customer experience.

As a first key use case implemented in a lab setup, the ATSSS handover functionality helps guarantee stable voice and video call quality by switching from cellular 5G to Wi-Fi and vice-versa, ensuring the user can enjoy the best connection without interruption. The solution works with both existing cellular access networks as well as Wi-Fi access points, making it easy to improve customer experience and network performance in a cost-efficient way.

In collaboration with Ericsson, MediaTek will also showcase 5G mmWave beam technology to enhance connection efficiency and reliability. Along with that, MediaTek will demonstrate its 5G UltraSave for mmWave with Keysight 5G Network Emulation Solutions and describe how its technology optimises hardware and software architecture to prolong battery life during high-speed data transmission for a variety of 5G-enabled devices.

Smartphones and Tablets

Powering everything from flagship smartphones to mass-market devices, MediaTek’s Dimensity lineup delivers an unrivaled combination of connectivity, multimedia, AI, and imaging innovations.

MediaTek is set to showcase the capabilities of its Dimensity 9200 chipset in boosting the performance of top-tier smartphones at MWC. The presentation will feature various demonstrations, such as hardware tracing support that enhances the graphics quality of gaming, Intelligent Display Sync 3.0 that provides real-time adjustments to the refresh rate, and Intelligent Image Semantic Segmentation that optimizes the image quality by managing colour and segmentation of multiple people. Moreover, MediaTek will exhibit the vivo X90 and X90 Pro, which are the latest flagship devices powered by the Dimensity 9200, during the event.

MediaTek is making significant strides into the foldable and tablet form factors, and will be showcasing devices in each category at MWC: the OPPO Find N2 Flip and Tecno PHANTOM V Fold, both powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+; and the OnePlus Pad and Lenovo Tab Extreme, both with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship chipset built in.

The new Dimensity 7200 is also being introduced at MWC as part of the MediaTek 7000 Dimensity Series. Excellent cutting-edge AI, intense gameplay, impressive 5G speeds, and increased battery life are all provided by this chipset. The Dimensity 7200, which is constructed using TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process, includes an Arm Mali G610 GPU, two Arm Cortex-A715 cores, six Cortex-A510 cores, an integrated AI Processing Unit, and two Arm Cortex-A715 cores, each with a maximum working speed of 2.8GHz. The chipset enables 200MP and 4K HDR cameras with MediaTek’s Imagiq 765 and 14-bit HDR ISP. Up to 4.7Gbps transmission, as well as 2CC Carrier Aggregation and Dual 5G SIM with dual VoNR, are supported by the built-in R16 Sub-6GHz 5G modem.

MediaTek will also unveil the latest addition to its Helio smartphone series with the Helio G36, which is designed for mass-market gaming devices. Helio G36 provides affordable smartphones with peak speeds of 2.2GHz from its octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU. It supports fast 90Hz displays for improved gaming experiences and offers support for 50MP cameras with light AI-camera enhancements.

Connectivity and Home

MediaTek’s Filogic collection offers consistent and uninterrupted connectivity for various devices such as residential gateways, smart TVs, mesh routers, streaming devices, smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more. During the presentation, the company will showcase an entire range of products that are supported by its top-of-the-line Wi-Fi 7/6E/6 Filogic solutions, demonstrating a complete ecosystem of connected devices.

IoT, Chromebook and Smart TV

The Genio platform from MediaTek features premium, mid-tier, and entry-level chipsets for a variety of smart home and smart environment gadgets, all of which are motivated by the company’s goal to make great technology accessible to everyone. The company’s Kompanio chipsets provide Chromebooks with good performance and long battery life at a variety of price points. The newest display, audio, AI, broadcasting, and connectivity technologies are combined in MediaTek’s Pentonic portfolio for the smart TV market to create unrivalled entertainment experiences. At MWC, MediaTek will showcase a variety of devices and demos driven by its Genio, Kompanio, and Pentonic product lines.
