Michelin Cup for E-Gamers returns for a second edition to MENA

Michelin has announced the launch of the second season of the Michelin Cup for E-Gamers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The tournament was created in collaboration with PlayStation’s world-class and authentic driving game franchise Gran Turismo. Michelin was named “exclusive tyre technology partner” for Play Station’s Gran Turismo franchise, a popular driving game, in 2019.

On the launch of the Michelin Cup, Naser Shashaa, Commercial Director – Michelin Middle East & North Africa said, “After receiving an overwhelming response for our pilot edition in our region, we decided to expand this exciting gaming experience to enthusiasts in the larger region of MENA, India and South Africa. This game connects the most successful virtual driving experience in the world with the global leader for high-performance tyre. Michelin leads the industry in tire simulation and we hope gaming enthusiasts in the region will enjoy the collaboration and help more gamers understand the critical role that Michelin play in optimizing vehicle performance.”

Following the huge success of the first edition in the MENA region in 2021, the latest edition of the Cup awaits thousands of participants from the MENA region, India, and South Africa compete for a prize pool of USD 40,000, with the first prize being $20,000, the second prize being $15,000, and the third prize being $5000. The transcontinental e-gaming event is officially accepting registrations.

The registration for the second week will open on December 6th and will close on December 12th. For the leaderboard-based event, all participants will be able to register for their region. On December 18th, twelve finalists from all three areas will compete for the top prizes on a single track during the grand finale.

UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, India, and South Africa are among the countries.

This year’s Michelin Cup builds on the lessons learned from the first pilot and is being launched in partnership with Power League Gaming, a leading e-gaming company that is in charge of campaign concept, production, and marketing.

The game will feature Michelin-branded tyres and educate players to Michelin’s extensive heritage in global motorsports, performance, and innovation, as part of a multi-year agreement with PlayStation in 2019.
