Orange, a telecommunications provider, has launched its 5G services in various areas of Amman and Irbid, marking a significant milestone in digital development. Orange Jordan had previously piloted the 5G technology in November 2022 and became the first to enable the 5G network in Amman, offering subscribers a free trial period.

The CEO of Orange Jordan, Philippe Mansour, announced the launch during a press conference held on July 11, 2023, at the Innovation Hub in the Orange Digital Village in Amman. The event was attended by prominent figures such as Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh and Eng. Bassam Alsarhan, Chairman of the board and CEO of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission TRC, along with partners, media representatives, and Orange Jordan’s Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shabib Ammari, and executive management.

The conference featured two panels that discussed the importance of 5G technology for Orange Jordan and the Kingdom, as well as the exceptional services, offers, and features provided by Orange Jordan’s 5G network, including high speed, low latency, and enhanced connectivity.

Orange Jordan has designed its 5G offers to deliver the best value in terms of speed, capacity, and innovation at competitive prices, catering to the diverse needs of all users. The company recognizes the excitement surrounding this new technology and its potential applications.

Jerome Henique, CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa, highlighted the significance of Orange Jordan becoming the second Orange country in the Middle East and Africa to launch 5G. This advancement will facilitate the development of essential infrastructure, accelerate digital transformation, and enable various industries such as entertainment, health, manufacturing, education, and transportation to leverage the benefits of 5G.

Orange Jordan has completed the necessary infrastructure to provide 5G coverage in multiple locations across Amman and Irbid in the initial stage. The company plans to continue expanding its 5G network to cover additional areas according to a predefined timeline.

Philippe Mansour, CEO of Orange Jordan, expressed pride in leading digital development in Jordan. He emphasized that as a responsible digital leader, Orange Jordan is committed to contributing to digital transformation, fostering a culture of innovation, and promoting sustainable development. Mansour believes that 5G technology will unlock new opportunities and support economic growth, job creation, and an improved quality of life in Jordan.

Orange will offer carefully designed 5G packages and offers for both fixed and mobile internet services, catering to individuals, households, and businesses. The company will leverage the expertise of the global Orange group in 5G rollout to expand coverage to more regions within the specified timeframe.

The launch of 5G services by Orange Jordan is a result of the agreement signed between Orange Jordan and the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) in August 2022, as well as the acquisition of the 5G frequencies license in February 2023. Orange Jordan stands as the sole provider in the Kingdom to offer all internet technologies, including fixed internet through fiber and ADSL, mobile internet through its 4G and 4G+ networks (remaining the exclusive 4G+ provider), and now 5G.
