Dar Al Arkan, a Saudi Real estate company, has started using the BOD2 3D construction printer, which can construct three-story large-scale residential units. Dar Al Arkan anticipates that 3D-printed housing units will soon be a reality in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
3DCP technology will accelerate the speed of construction, enhance safety and reduce wastage and errors and COBOD specialises in it.
Vice chairman Ziad El Chaar, Dar Al Arkan said that the collaboration with them is important for COBON to launch their technology in Saudi Arabia and the GCC.
He also added that is he optimistic that the technology will become a reality in the region, expecting wider adoption as technology improves.
Three employees can construct one house using 3DCP, which reduces building time by more than half and is more versatile in its design. The technology also helps in less requirement of concrete to finish buildings leading to a more sustainable and practical solution to the low-carbon construction industry.
According to El Chaar, the combination of these benefits for consumers promises lower costs and greater affordability compared to traditional construction.
He anticipated that “very soon,” Dar Al Arkan clients would be able to choose from a variety of digital building designs and authorise the printing of their homes with the press of a button. He stated “The technology will revolutionise how customers acquire their homes in the near future.”
He added “Our growth in the market will consistently focus on the second home and vacation home space, as this is where we have the expertise and can add the most value.”
