ThinkPad Z series in new designs and recycled materials for the Iconic Brand

Lenovo is excited to unveil a new line of ThinkPad notebooks with striking revolutionary designs that defy convention and introduce new colours and materials to our premium business laptop lineup.

The all-new ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 feature a modern design concept aimed at a particular type of business user. The new eye-catching design reflects shifting ideas on technology, its environmental impact, and the origins of raw materials. Not only does the design contain unique premium colour accents like bronze and arctic grey, but it also incorporates more environmentally friendly materials like recycled aluminum1 and recycled black vegan leather2. The packaging is comprised of 100 percent recyclable and biodegradable bamboo and sugarcane, and the AC power adaptor uses 90 percent Post-Consumer Content (PCC).

The ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 will be among the first laptops with the Microsoft Pluton security processor, which will be powered by the latest AMD RyzenTM PRO 6000 Series processors for mobility. Lenovo’s secure-by-design methodology has been enhanced thanks to its collaboration with AMD and Microsoft. AMD Ryzen6000 Series are the first x86 processors to integrate the Microsoft Pluton security processor for robust security from chip to cloud on Windows 11 PCs, building on AMD PRO security’s layered approach. Microsoft built and updated the Microsoft Pluton Security Processor, which hardens new Windows 11PCs by providing protection for user identity, data, and programmes.

Exclusive Lenovo and AMD Collaboration

Lenovo and AMD have also worked to create a cutting-edge platform architecture that streamlines all parts of the system, from silicon to hardware and software. The ThinkPad Z13, when combined with the AMD RyzenTM 7 PRO 6860Z processor, provides an exceptional collaboration experience. In apps like Teams and Zoom, the processor is built to enable seamless audio and video performance, maximise responsiveness, and give amazing battery life. The new AMD RadeonTM RX 6500M discrete graphics with AMD smart technologies can be added to the ThinkPad Z16, enhancing productivity, enabling advanced content production, and casual gaming. AMD Smart Shift Max provides an instantaneous power boost for both the CPU and GPU when used with Ryzen CPUs, while Smart Shift Eco is designed to maximise battery life.

We are immensely proud of the tradition and heritage that ThinkPad has achieved as we begin celebrations for the 30th anniversary of ThinkPad, and our commitment to innovate for the benefit of the end user will continue for decades to come. We’re really enthusiastic about the major design advancement in the ThinkPad Z series, but the ThinkPad Z13 and Z16, in particular, continue to mirror the brand’s key foundational design and engineering concepts.

To improve the unique user experience, key design and technology aspects have been integrated into the ThinkPad Z series. Minimalism is intended to be elegant and appealing. Ultra-narrow bezels and productive 16:10 aspect ratios have been used to maximise the displays. A redesigned Communications Bar incorporates a superior FHD webcam with a larger 1.4msensor and dual-array microphones, enhancing audio and video conferencing. For quick and easy input, a bigger 120mm glass haptic ForcePad that blends smoothly with the all-glass palm rest is added, and those familiar with the classic red TrackPoint will notice a new feature: Double-tapping the TrackPoint brings up the Communication QuickMenu, which allows you to access common camera and microphone options quickly.

Our goal is to thrill end users with a unique look and feel made from recycled materials, while also reassuring IT departments with enterprise-class performance, security, reliability, and manageability.

Make no mistake: the Z13 and Z16 are ThinkPad notebooks, and as such, they are tested to MIL-Spec 810H requirements and subjected to the same rigorous quality controls as other ThinkPad computers, which is an important stage in ThinkPad product development, particularly when employing new materials.
