Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, has reasserted the UAE’s steadfast commitment to recognizing artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative force, beyond a passing trend. Addressing the second day of the Global Media Congress, Al Olama highlighted projections indicating that AI-generated content will dominate over 90 percent of internet content by 2026, underscoring the profound impact this technology is poised to have.

During his keynote address, Al Olama credited the UAE’s visionary leadership for early investments in AI and the launch of key initiatives, such as the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and the 100 Practical Applications and Use Cases of Generative AI in Media. These initiatives form a robust foundation supporting the country’s pursuit of sustainable development.

Al Olama stressed the need to align with the rapid developments imposed by AI, emphasizing the substantial opportunities it presents for advancing and innovating the media sector. Drawing parallels to historical shifts like the integration of electricity, he positioned AI as an indispensable force in the evolving media landscape—a sophisticated tool capable of revealing truths and disseminating valuable content.

Addressing concerns about AI’s impact on the media landscape, Al Olama likened its role to that of a catalyst for innovation rather than a replacement for human roles. He expressed optimism about the harmonious integration of generative AI with creative media, citing AI’s positive contributions in rapid content production and the evolution of images and films.

Highlighting the transformative role of AI in contemporary life, Al Olama underscored its influence on information dissemination and decision-making processes. He urged the responsible and positive utilization of AI for the benefit of future generations, emphasizing its potential to uncover truths and contribute to societal well-being.

Commending the organizers of the Global Media Congress, Al Olama expressed satisfaction with the event’s success in addressing critical topics related to the future, encompassing both challenges and opportunities.
