Veritas Technologies, a secure multi-cloud data management company, is joining forces with Microsoft to introduce an innovative offering that will enhance the upcoming Microsoft 365 Backup solution. As businesses across the globe increasingly adopt software as a service (SaaS) solutions like Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Slack, and Box, Veritas and Microsoft recognize the need to address the growing security challenges.

The popularity of SaaS applications stems from their ability to enable remote collaboration, lower upfront costs compared to self-managed software, and easier deployment and maintenance at scale. However, the shift to SaaS has also made these applications attractive targets for cyber-attacks, such as ransomware, posing significant risks to IT teams responsible for security and data protection.

It’s essential for businesses to take responsibility for safeguarding their SaaS data, and that’s where Veritas comes in, collaborating with Microsoft to ensure the protection of SaaS data. The Microsoft 365 Backup solution offers backup and restoration capabilities for Microsoft 365 data, including OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange. Utilizing AI technology, Microsoft 365 Backup incorporates snapshot capabilities, and when combined with Veritas Alta secure cloud data management platform solutions, it creates an enterprise-grade solution that enables customers to securely protect their Microsoft 365 data and recover quickly from cyber threats like ransomware. Moreover, this collaboration assists businesses in fulfilling their part of Microsoft’s shared responsibility model.

The benefits of Veritas and Microsoft 365 Backup include:

1. Tight integration of cyber resilience and ransomware recovery.

2. Meeting business continuity, disaster recovery, data retention, and governance requirements.

3. Global protection against data loss from malicious attacks or accidental deletion.

4. Adherence to stringent service level agreements (SLAs) with granular recovery options.

5. Empowering collaboration between SecOps, SaaS, and ITOps teams to address advanced search, compliance, and discovery needs.

6. Control of cloud costs and reduced total cost of ownership for Microsoft 365 services.

7. Managing Microsoft 365 data alongside other SaaS applications (such as Slack and Salesforce), Enterprise Data Center applications (physical or virtual), and private and public clouds through a unified platform.

Lawrence Wong, Chief Strategy Officer at Veritas Technologies, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that customers can enhance their cyber resilience against threats like ransomware with fast, granular recovery and long-term data retention to meet compliance needs.

Jeff Teper, President of Collaboration Apps and Platforms at Microsoft, also expressed enthusiasm for working with Veritas and the potential they bring to the new Microsoft 365 Backup solution, promising unprecedented speed and scalability for backup and restore experiences.

This partnership between Veritas and Microsoft will significantly improve data security and governance for SaaS environments, enabling extremely fast recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) for Microsoft 365 data. The Veritas Alta platform’s capabilities provide comprehensive data protection and management, making this joint offering appealing to customers, systems integrators, and channel partners alike.
