Paul Maritz has been named as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Acronis. Maritz will be in charge of Acronis’ governance and leadership as the company enhances its position in the service provider industry and prepares for considerable future expansion.
Acronis secured $250 million at a $2.5 billion value earlier this year, and Patrick Pulvermüller, the former president of GoDaddy‘s Partners, was named the new CEO. The momentum will be used by the enhanced management team to give Acronis’ partners with the tools they need to deal with a quickly changing digital world.
“Paul brings a wealth of experience developing products to meet market demands and take companies to the next level. His becoming Chairman represents another step forward for Acronis in solidifying its position as a global leader in cyber protection. Paul’s experience with innovations at scale will help us to continue delivering easy, efficient, and secure cyber protection to service providers and their customers of any size,” said Patrick Pulvermüller, Acronis CEO.
“With its strength in backup and security, Acronis is well positioned to build a platform for a comprehensive list of management tools, helping service providers deliver modern cyber protection to their customers today and in the future. Acronis Cyber Protect is a great example of what can be done. Acronis will continue extensive research and development in this direction, helping partners optimize their operations and stay ahead of the competition,” said Paul Maritz, Acronis Chairman of the Board.
The task of providing MSPs with effective tools to manage their customers’ environments is getting increasingly difficult, especially in a world where security has become a major concern. An SMB end client can no longer handle security by putting together a slew of independent products. New dangers have revealed the necessity for an integrated approach and automated cyber defence that addresses the modern digital world’s concerns of safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security (SAPAS).
Acronis Cyber Protect offers all of the future management capabilities that service providers will need to give excellent service to their clients and help them develop their businesses. Acronis will continue to make acquisitions in addition to creating its own technology in order to become one of the world’s leading providers of innovative backup, security, and management tools. Acronis Cyber Protect is trusted by over 12,000 service providers across the world to handle over 2,000,000 workloads, establishing the company for future growth.
Maritz first joined the Acronis Board of Directors in May 2021, bringing to the cyber security firm 40 years of experience in computer science and software.
Paul has previously served on the Microsoft Executive Staff, as the CEO of VMware, and as the CEO and Founder of Pivotal Software. Paul is currently an active investor and sits on the boards of several technological start-ups.
Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in computer science from the Universities of Natal and Cape Town, respectively. He is involved in the nonprofit sector, having been on the Board of the Grameen Foundation for ten years, which promotes financial inclusion and technology in developing countries, as well as conservation activities in Africa.
René Bonvanie, who led Acronis to build an effective plan to increase its global footprint and give easy, efficient, and safe cyber protection to clients of all sizes, has been replaced by Paul Maritz. René Bonvanie’s contribution to the company’s development and growth is acknowledged by Acronis.
