Microsoft Appoints Samer Abu-Ltaif as President of EMEA Region

Microsoft has appointed Samer Abu-Ltaif as the new President of Microsoft Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), succeeding Ralph Haupter. Haupter will now lead the newly formed Microsoft Small, Medium Enterprises, and Channel Partner organization.

In his new role, Abu-Ltaif will leverage his extensive experience in digital transformation to strengthen Microsoft’s presence across over 120 markets in the EMEA region. He will focus on empowering customers and partners to harness AI’s transformative potential, driving innovation, and contributing to sustained economic growth.

Abu-Ltaif, who previously served as President of Microsoft’s Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMA) region, has played a pivotal role in Microsoft’s expansion. Under his leadership, the company strengthened partnerships with strategic service providers and enhanced its regional footprint. His leadership led to several key achievements, including the launch of Microsoft’s first datacenter in South Africa and additional datacenters in the UAE, Qatar, Poland, and the upcoming regions in Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya. He was also instrumental in establishing the Microsoft Africa Development Center in Kenya and driving the company’s $1.5 billion investment in Abu Dhabi’s G42 to accelerate AI innovation.

Abu-Ltaif’s two-decade tenure at Microsoft is marked by his dedication to workforce development through initiatives like Tomoh, AthkaU, TechDev, and the Africa Development Bank partnership, impacting millions of individuals by equipping them with digital skills. His efforts in sustainability also include impactful collaborations with governments, businesses, and startups to advance the region’s sustainability goals.

Based in the UAE, Abu-Ltaif has held various senior roles at Microsoft, including President of Middle East and Africa and Regional Director for the Gulf region. He holds an MBA in Leadership and Sustainability and a degree in Computer Science from the American University of Beirut.
