Huawei has appointed Corey Deng as Chief Cybersecurity and Privacy Officer, CSPO, for its Middle East and Central Asia region, reinforcing its focus on cybersecurity and privacy governance.

In this role, Corey Deng will lead Huawei’s regional cybersecurity and privacy strategy. He will oversee frameworks covering cybersecurity, data protection, AI security, and privacy compliance. Additionally, he will work closely with customers, partners, and regulators to strengthen Huawei’s end to end cybersecurity assurance system. This effort aims to support the region’s evolving digital landscape.

Corey Deng brings more than 18 years of experience within Huawei. He joined the company in 2008. Over the years, he has built a strong track record combining technical expertise with international leadership across both mature and emerging markets.

Previously, he served as Chief Cybersecurity and Privacy Officer at Huawei’s Digital Power Business Unit Headquarters. Before that, he held several leadership roles. These include Cybersecurity Director and Vice President of Solutions Sales in the United Kingdom, and Solutions Sales Director in the Netherlands. Earlier in his career, he worked in Research and Development as a Marketing Manager and IC Chipset Designer.

Meanwhile, Phillip Gan, President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, emphasized the importance of the appointment. He stated that cybersecurity and privacy are essential to building a trusted digital ecosystem. He added that Corey Deng’s leadership will strengthen Huawei’s ability to support clients and partners with secure and resilient solutions aligned with regional digital ambitions.

Corey Deng also shared his perspective. He noted that as digital transformation accelerates across the Middle East and Central Asia, trust must remain central to innovation. Furthermore, he highlighted his commitment to working with regional stakeholders to strengthen cybersecurity and privacy frameworks that enable sustainable and secure growth.

At the same time, the region continues to face a complex threat landscape influenced by geopolitical dynamics. As technology adoption increases, the attack surface is expanding. Therefore, Huawei stresses that traditional security approaches must evolve. The company is focusing on areas such as sovereign AI infrastructure and quantum safety to address emerging risks.

Under Deng’s leadership, Huawei will continue integrating cybersecurity and privacy protection into its products, solutions, and internal governance practices. Ultimately, this appointment reflects Huawei’s ongoing commitment to enabling a secure and trusted digital environment across the Middle East and Central Asia.
