Abu Dhabi artificial intelligence (AI) sector is expanding at a record pace, positioning the emirate as a global centre of AI innovation and growth.

The Abu Dhabi Chamber revealed that the emirate hosts 673 AI companies, marking a 61% increase between June 2023 and June 2024. Globally, there are around 90,904 AI companies, placing Abu Dhabi’s share among the highest concentrations worldwide.

Reports indicate that Abu Dhabi is now the fastest-growing hub for artificial intelligence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It is also emerging as a global leader in AI-driven enterprise, innovation, and research.

The emirate’s growth is supported by leading institutions, including the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), AI71 Abu Dhabi, Hub71, G42, and Space42.

The Chamber revealed that over 58% of all AI firms in Abu Dhabi are dedicated to innovation, research, and consultancy. This reflects a research-driven business environment that attracts global talent and enterprise.

Between January and June 2025, 150 new AI companies were launched, driven by investment, advanced infrastructure, and cross-sector demand.

Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, stated that the sector is moving from early adoption to real-world transformation. He noted that much of the growth is centred on research, strategic consultancy, and enterprise-level solutions.

He added that this surge is powered by collaboration between government, businesses, global leaders, and emerging innovators.

  • New strategic roadmap (2025–2028) focuses on ease of doing business and policy advocacy.
  • A dedicated Advocacy Working Group on AI and Technology is shaping Abu Dhabi’s AI future.

The Abu Dhabi Chamber confirmed that this coordinated approach gives the emirate a competitive edge and strengthens its role as a hub for innovation and enterprise.
