The Roads and Transport Authority RTA Dubai has announced the adoption of a smart digital platform, “Data Drive, Clear Guide,” to study and analyse historical and real-time traffic flow across the emirate’s roads.

The platform processes data from the past five years alongside current traffic information. It enables authorities to identify road conditions, analyse speeds, detect recurring traffic patterns, and pinpoint congestion points or smooth-flow periods.

RTA revealed that this initiative forms part of its efforts to harness artificial intelligence to ease congestion and deliver advanced digital services. The project supports Dubai’s goal of becoming the world’s smartest city and a global hub for innovation and sustainability.

The authority reported that the platform will send instant notifications about traffic movement, aiding swift decision-making in daily operations. It offers advanced analytical tools to assess traffic performance over various periods and compare it with historical data.

Key features include:

  • Real-time traffic condition updates via an interactive map.
  • Automated report generation for evaluating roadworks and diversions.
  • Detection of congestion patterns and sudden speed drops for faster response.

Previously, traffic data was compiled manually from consultants, field teams, or reports, which caused delays. Now, information that once took weeks can be analysed within minutes.

The RTA confirmed that the platform will also support real-time monitoring of traffic diversions and events, allowing teams to act promptly to minimise delays. Data is sourced from leading international providers and processed with intelligent tools for an accurate, instant view of road conditions.
