DEWA EV charging hub has officially opened its first phase as Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) inaugurated a major charging facility dedicated exclusively to DTC’s electric taxi fleet.

The hub was inaugurated by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Abdul Muhsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Chairman of the DTC Group’s Board of Directors. Located at DTC’s headquarters in Muhaisnah 4, the facility features 24 next generation ultrafast charging points, each with a capacity of 360kW.

The project is part of a long term strategic agreement signed between DEWA and DTC during WETEX 2025. Under the agreement, the partners will deploy more than 200 ultrafast EV charging points dedicated to DTC’s electric taxi fleet, supporting the expansion of Dubai’s green mobility infrastructure.

The DEWA EV charging hub is now operational and can charge 24 electric vehicles simultaneously in around 35 minutes. The facility is designed to reduce vehicle downtime, improve fleet efficiency, and support zero emission transport services across Dubai.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said DEWA continues to strengthen strategic partnerships to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient transportation system. He noted that the initiative supports Dubai’s vision of becoming the best city in the world to live, work and visit, while also advancing the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

Al Tayer added that DEWA remains focused on expanding advanced EV charging infrastructure that provides a seamless and reliable charging experience. According to him, the initiative will help reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, support the growing adoption of electric vehicles, and reinforce Dubai’s position as a global leader in sustainability and innovation.

He also said the partnership reflects joint efforts to strengthen integration between the energy and sustainable transport sectors. Al Tayer praised Dubai Taxi Company’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle fleet, saying it will help reduce emissions from the transport sector while supporting the development of charging infrastructure built to international standards.

Abdul Muhsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Group Chairman of the DTC Board of Directors, said strategic partnerships remain central to the company’s long term growth strategy. He said the agreement signed with DEWA during WETEX 2025 is now delivering tangible results that support DTC’s sustainability objectives and commitment to innovative mobility.

Kalbat added that the collaboration will help build the infrastructure required to support Dubai’s smart and green future while creating long term value for the community, stakeholders, and the wider mobility ecosystem.

Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, Group CEO of DTC, said Dubai’s ambition to lead sustainable mobility continues to drive innovation across the sector. He said the collaboration with DEWA marks an important milestone in DTC’s electrification journey by combining fleet expansion with the charging infrastructure needed to support future growth.

Alfalasi added that the new charging facility represents the first phase of a larger network of more than 200 EV charging stations dedicated entirely to DTC’s electric taxi fleet. As the network expands, he said it will improve fleet efficiency, maximise vehicle availability, and help meet growing customer demand for reliable, zero emission transport services.

The DEWA EV charging hub is expected to play a key role in supporting Dubai’s transition to sustainable mobility while strengthening the emirate’s electric vehicle infrastructure through the planned rollout of more than 200 ultrafast charging points.
