Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT), the global cybersecurity, announced major enhancements to its FortiRecon platform, evolving it into a comprehensive solution aligned with the continuous threat exposure management (CTEM) framework. The latest update introduces expanded internal attack surface monitoring, adversary-centric dark web intelligence, and security orchestration in a single unified platform.

The enhancements help organizations identify and prioritize real-world exposures, validate risks like attackers, and accelerate response, reducing the likelihood and impact of breaches.

“CISOs and security teams face growing attack surfaces and endless alerts,” said Nirav Shah, Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions at Fortinet. “FortiRecon gives an attacker’s view of exposures, backed by AI-powered threat intelligence from FortiGuard Labs, real-world validation, and automated response. This allows organizations to focus on what matters most and reduce vulnerabilities before attackers exploit them.”

FortiRecon, integrated with the Fortinet AI-Driven Security Operations Center (SOC), now supports the five pillars of the Gartner CTEM framework: scoping, discovery, prioritization, validation, and mobilization. Key enhancements include:

  • Attack surface management: Continuous monitoring of internal and external digital attack surfaces, with National Vulnerability Database (NVD) and FortiRecon Active Exploitation severity ratings.
  • Adversary-centric intelligence: Actionable insights from dark web activity, ransomware threats, leaked credentials, and at-risk vendors.
  • Brand protection & security orchestration: Detection of phishing, rogue apps, domain impersonation, and automated workflows for faster response.

Existing FortiFlex customers can deploy FortiRecon Cloud using their credits. FortiFlex provides usage-based licensing for dynamic hybrid and multi-cloud environments and MSSPs.

Fortinet was recently named an Overall Leader, Market Leader, and Innovation Leader in the KuppingerCole Leadership Compass for Attack Surface Management 2025. The recognition highlights FortiRecon’s readiness across CIS, ICS, IoT, and OT environments and its integration with Fortinet Security Fabric tools, including FortiGate NGFW, FortiSOAR, FortiSIEM, and FortiDAST.

Paul Cragg, CTO at Norm Cyber, said, “FortiRecon enables our teams to provide continuous, contextualized risk insights, prioritize remediation based on business impact, and deliver measurable security outcomes. It is a key differentiator for building long-term trust and value.”
