When procurement delays and inefficiencies cost contractors time, money, and control, construction procurement technology steps in to change the game. Procurified emerges as the tech partner redefining how teams manage materials, RFQs, and site execution. TECHx Media sat down with Marc Lemmens, Co-Founder & VP of Customer Success at Procurified, to explore the company’s evolution, its collaboration with ALEC Holdings and ALEMCO, and the role AI is beginning to play in reshaping construction procurement workflows across the UAE.

The Story Behind Procurified

Procurified didn’t begin as the procurement platform it is today. Marc explains that the company’s earliest version was Lightified, a digital marketplace built to connect lighting buyers and sellers.

“My co-founder Rupert Tait came from a lighting consulting background, and I was leading specification sales across the Middle East and EMEA,” he recalls. “But the market wasn’t quite ready for that idea, so we pivoted and that pivot led to Procurified becoming a SaaS product.”

The shift happened when the team began engaging with contractors, including ALEMCO, the MEP arm of ALEC Holdings. Contractors openly shared the pressing issues they faced onsite:

  • Over ordering and duplicate purchasing
  • PRs raised manually on paper
  • No accountability across the chain
  • Limited visibility and loss of site control

“They told us, ‘We’ve lost control on site, can you help bring that control back?’” Marc says. That conversation became the catalyst for Procurified’s transformation.

Today, the platform is deployed across major UAE megaprojects, including Wynn Resort in Ras Al Khaimah and Stargate, with ALEMCO leveraging Procurified for cost estimation, RFQs, procurement oversight, and onsite material tracking.

Making Technology Easy for Everyone, Not Just the Tech Savvy

A core principle of Procurified, Marc highlights, is that technology must be powerful and simple to use.

“On the Wynn project alone, about 300 people use the system, from management to site foremen,” he explains. “Not everyone has the same level of computer literacy, so our goal is to build a solution easy enough for everyone on the project, yet robust enough for full end to end procurement.”

AI is integrated across the platform, from automated RFQ capture to procurement tracking but Marc stresses that artificial intelligence must address real, practical challenges. “Everyone talks about AI, but it must solve a real problem, not just be a buzzword.”

Turning Documents into Instant Answers

Looking ahead, Procurified is investing heavily in AI to streamline information access and eliminate time lost searching through documents. Marc reveals their upcoming AI assistant, Tessium, which he believes will fundamentally change how contractors retrieve information.

“Tessium turns every file, folder, and email into instant answers,” he says.
“People know the information exists somewhere, but they waste hours digging for it. Our technology preprocesses documents into contextual elements so teams can retrieve answers in seconds. “In a high pressure industry where delays can cost millions, this capability has the potential to dramatically boost commercial and operational efficiency.

Partnering With ALEC

When speaking about Procurified’s growth, Marc credits much of their momentum to the collaborative environment fostered by ALEC Holdings.

“We’re fortunate to be part of this ecosystem, even though we work with only one business unit,” he notes.
“Events like this bring stakeholders together and give companies like ours the opportunity to support broader digital transformation across the group.”

This growing partnership has helped Procurified extend its influence while empowering contractors to regain control over procurement operations on some of the country’s largest construction projects.

Final Thoughts

As construction firms across the region accelerate their digital transformation strategies, Procurified is positioning itself at the intersection of efficiency, accountability, and AI-driven change in construction procurement. From tackling longstanding industry pain points such as over ordering and limited site visibility to developing advanced tools like Tessium that redefine how information is accessed, Procurified is setting a new benchmark for construction procurement technology in the MENA region.

“It’s been a five year journey so far,” Marc concludes, “and we’re just getting started.”
