Taylor Swift has filed trademark applications to protect her voice and likeness from AI-generated deepfakes. The filings were submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Friday. They were made under TAS Rights Management, which is listed as the owner of the audio clips and image. According to a trademark attorney, the move appears to be an effort to safeguard her identity from manipulated videos and audio created using artificial intelligence. A spokesperson for Swift did not respond to requests for comment on Monday. In addition, lawyers listed on the filings also did not respond.

Meanwhile, the applications include two audio clips. In one clip, Swift is heard saying: “Hey, it’s Taylor Swift, and you can listen to my new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ on demand on Amazon Music Unlimited.”

In the second clip, she says: “Hey, it’s Taylor. My brand new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ is out on October 3 and you can click to presave it so you can listen to it on Spotify.”

In addition, the filing includes an image of Swift performing on stage. She is shown wearing a sequined outfit while holding a pink guitar.

The filings come amid growing concerns over AI misuse. Swift’s image and voice have been widely used in AI-generated deepfakes. These include false advertising, fake political endorsements, and explicit content created without consent.

Overall, the case highlights increasing efforts by public figures to protect identity rights in the age of generative AI. Taylor Swift remains central to discussions around AI deepfakes and celebrity image protection.
