WSO2 has announced a CEO transition. The company’s Founder & CEO Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana is set to step down from his CEO role in June 2026. According to the company, a structured leadership transition plan has been put in place to ensure continuity.

In addition, the Board of Directors has initiated a search for a permanent CEO. Meanwhile, WSO2 Chief Revenue Officer Devaka Randeniya has been appointed as Acting Chief Executive Officer. He will lead the company during the transition period.

Furthermore, Jonas Persson, Chairman of the Board, stated that the company is grateful for Sanjiva Weerawarana’s vision and leadership. He noted that WSO2 has become a globally recognized technology company. He also emphasized that the leadership team is strong and the strategy is clear.

Moreover, the company highlighted continued demand for its platform. Enterprises are increasingly seeking secure ways to integrate, manage, and govern complex digital interactions. This includes emerging AI agents and AI-driven processes.

Importantly, Sanjiva Weerawarana said it has been an incredible journey building WSO2 over two decades. He added that he is proud of the company’s achievements. He also expressed confidence in the team and future strategy. He further noted that WSO2’s role in enabling AI-driven, agent-based digital experiences is still in its early phase.

Additionally, Weerawarana will join WSO2 executives at WSO2Con North America 2026 in Austin, Texas next week. The leadership team will present new innovations and outline the company’s future direction.
