Nutanix Unified Storage has achieved NVIDIA-Certified Storage status at the enterprise level, marking a significant step in supporting large-scale production AI workloads. The announcement comes as enterprises and cloud providers accelerate efforts to build AI factories capable of handling growing AI demands.

The certification is designed to help organizations deploy storage infrastructure that meets the performance, security, and scalability requirements of modern AI environments. In addition, Nutanix announced plans to support NVIDIA Vera BlueField-4 STX, further advancing its AI-native storage capabilities with faster data access, improved storage efficiency, and simplified AI operations.

As AI adoption grows, enterprises and cloud providers are seeking infrastructure that can keep data moving efficiently, maximize GPU utilization, and reduce deployment risks. However, fragmented infrastructure, siloed data, and inconsistent performance often create bottlenecks that slow deployments and limit AI scalability.

With the new certification, Nutanix provides customers with a validated configuration for enterprise AI infrastructure deployments. The certification confirms that Nutanix Unified Storage supports full-stack interoperability with NVIDIA AI infrastructure. This helps reduce I/O bottlenecks and integration challenges while enabling linear scalability for data-intensive AI workloads.

Thomas Cornely, Executive Vice President of Product Management at Nutanix, said organizations building AI factories must move beyond fragmented infrastructure and data silos that hinder GPU efficiency. He added that the certification validates the platform’s ability to deliver interoperability, scalability, and data velocity required for production AI workloads, while providing customers with a unified foundation for expanding AI operations.

Jason Hardy, Vice President of Storage Technology at NVIDIA, said storage plays a critical role in unlocking performance, efficiency, and accuracy as enterprises scale AI factory deployments and agentic AI workloads. He noted that the certification provides customers with a trusted and interoperable platform that helps eliminate data bottlenecks, maximize GPU utilization, and support production AI workloads at scale.

The certified solution is built on a 10-node all-NVMe cluster and uses enhanced parallel NFS (pNFS) and GPUDirect Storage over NFS with RDMA. This architecture creates a low-latency, high-throughput, and resilient data path between GPUs and storage, helping improve utilization and minimize downtime.

Furthermore, the platform is designed to support enterprise AI deployments as they expand from targeted GPU environments to larger production-scale infrastructures. To support large-scale AI performance, the solution incorporates NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet technology, including NVIDIA Spectrum-4 switches and BlueField-3 DPUs.

According to Nutanix, the solution delivers linear scalability from 10 GB/s read and 5 GB/s write performance for 32 GPUs to 160 GB/s read and 80 GB/s write performance for 1,024 GPUs.

The architecture is designed for zero downtime and supports a broad range of AI workloads, including training, fine-tuning, inference, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines. It is compatible with multiple compute platforms, including x86-based systems powered by NVIDIA RTX 6000 PRO Blackwell and NVIDIA H200 NVL GPUs, NVIDIA HGX servers equipped with B200, H200, or H100 GPUs, and NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip configurations.

Ahmed Rashad, Senior AI Specialist for the Middle East and Africa at Nutanix, said organizations across the region are rapidly moving from AI experimentation to production-scale deployments. He added that enterprises increasingly require infrastructure capable of delivering consistent performance, efficient data movement, and simplified operations. Rashad noted that the NVIDIA certification for Nutanix Unified Storage reinforces the company’s commitment to helping customers build resilient, high-performance AI environments while maximizing AI investments and reducing operational complexity.

As enterprises continue scaling AI initiatives, Nutanix Unified Storage is positioned to provide a certified storage foundation that supports performance, scalability, and operational efficiency for production AI environments.
