e& UAE has activated 1024QAM modulation on its live, commercial 5.5G network, becoming the first operator in the region to deploy the highest modulation scheme currently available on a live network. The milestone enabled the network to achieve multi gigabit download speeds of 4.58 Gbps.

Announced in Abu Dhabi on July 24, the achievement reflects e& UAE’s continued investment in advanced mobile infrastructure. The demonstration was conducted using the newly launched HUAWEI Pura 90s smartphone, one of the first devices capable of supporting this next generation connectivity.

According to e& UAE, the live speed test on its 5.5G network recorded download speeds of 4,587 Mbps, equivalent to 4.58 Gbps. The company said the deployment of 1024QAM modulation increases the amount of data transmitted in every signal, improving network efficiency and enabling higher speeds.

The company said the higher capacity allows users to download full length HD movies in seconds, back up large photo libraries quickly, and transfer large work files almost instantly. In addition, applications such as live sports streaming, high definition video calls, cloud gaming, and AI powered services can benefit from lower latency and improved responsiveness, even during periods of high network usage.

Furthermore, e& UAE noted that faster connectivity will support the growing adoption of AI applications, including real time translation, intelligent assistants, and other cloud based services that require reliable, high speed mobile networks.
